The Wavian 20L is a NATO-pattern steel jerry can made in Latvia, holding 20 liters (5.3 US gallons) of petroleum fuel. Its 0.9 mm cold-rolled steel body carries a Rezol interior lining rated for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, and the included safety spout stores on the can itself. Available in Red (gasoline), Yellow (diesel), Blue (kerosene), Olive Drab, and Black. California addresses may only receive Red, Yellow, and Blue.

Welded Construction That Holds Under Load

The Wavian 20L's body seams are fully welded rather than crimped, and those seams are recessed inside the body line. A crimped seam leaves an exposed lip along the side of the can, a stress point that can open under repeated handling or when a loaded can shifts in a cargo area. Welded, recessed seams eliminate that lip and keep the joint protected from impact. For a can that may ride in a truck bed, on a roof rack, or strapped to a trailer for thousands of miles, that construction difference matters.

A Pour System Designed Around One Hand

The three-handle top (two fixed outer handles and a center swing handle) lets one person carry and pour without a second set of hands, or lets two people lift a full can together. The included safety spout clips into a bracket on top of the can between uses, so it travels with the can and is always at hand when you need to pour. A quarter-turn locking collar secures the spout during use. An internal breather pipe in the neck allows air to enter as fuel exits, maintaining a steady, controlled pour rather than the glug-and-surge common to unvented cans.

Closure and Labeling Built Into the Design

The NATO bayonet lever locks the lid, and a tether keeps the locking pin attached to the can when removed, so there is no loose hardware to lose in the field. The Red variant carries a GASOLINE label on the front face and printed opening and closing instructions on the side, so the can communicates its contents and correct operation without a separate tag.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Wavian 20L suits overlanders, off-road travelers, and anyone who needs a reliable, field-serviceable fuel container for gasoline, diesel, or kerosene, carried on a roof rack, in a truck bed, or stored at a base camp. The color-coded variants (Red, Yellow, Blue) make fuel-type identification straightforward when multiple cans are in use.

The Wavian 20L is not rated for potable water. The Rezol lining is designed for petroleum fuels only; use a dedicated water container for drinking water. California addresses may only receive Red (gasoline), Yellow (diesel), and Blue (kerosene) variants. Olive Drab and Black cannot be delivered to California addresses.

Common Questions

Can the Wavian 20L be used for drinking water?

No. The Wavian 20L jerry can has a Rezol interior lining designed for petroleum fuels: gasoline, diesel, and kerosene. It is not rated for potable water storage. A separate, dedicated water container should be used for drinking water.

What does the color of the can indicate?

Color indicates intended fuel type. Red is labeled for gasoline, Yellow for diesel, and Blue for kerosene. Olive Drab and Black are not fuel-type labeled on the can. Only Red, Yellow, and Blue variants can be delivered to California addresses.

Is the safety spout included, or sold separately?

The safety spout with a quarter-turn locking collar is included with every Wavian 20L jerry can. It clips into a bracket on top of the can for storage between uses, so it travels with the can rather than being stored separately.

How does the bayonet closure work, and what happens to the locking pin?

The Wavian 20L uses a NATO bayonet lever to lock the lid. When the lever is opened, the locking pin is retained by a tether attached to the can, so it cannot be misplaced in the field. The lever is re-engaged to reseal the can after filling or pouring.

Why does the Wavian 20L pour more smoothly than a standard fuel can?

An internal breather pipe runs inside the neck of the Wavian 20L. As fuel exits through the spout, air enters through the breather, equalizing pressure and allowing a steady, controlled pour. Cans without this feature tend to glug and surge as air and fuel compete for the same opening.
