Swiss Link Italian San Marco Troop Backpack Issued Surplus

The Swiss Link Italian San Marco Troop Backpack is a genuine issued military surplus pack from Italian armed forces stock. "Issued" means it saw real service and arrives in good used condition, with minor wear, markings, or stamps from that service. Built from heavy canvas with attached shoulder straps and no internal frame, this large-format pack measures 20" x 16" x 14" and collapses flat when empty. It is available in Olive Drab.

Canvas Built for Bulk Loads

The San Marco pack's canvas shell is the same material Italian military units relied on for field carry. Canvas holds its shape under load, resists abrasion against vehicle interiors and rocky terrain, and ages without cracking the way synthetic coatings can. The 20" x 16" x 14" interior is genuinely large: it fits two full-face motorcycle helmets side by side with room for additional gear around them.

Organized Access Without the Weight of a Frame

Two large outer pockets put frequently needed items within reach without opening the main compartment. Two vertical side envelopes, sized for boots or shoes, add dedicated storage for bulky or dirty items that would otherwise take up main-compartment space. Because the pack carries no internal frame or padding, it rolls or folds flat when empty, making it easy to stow in a truck bed, cargo box, or duffel when not in use.

Specifications

Who This Is For and Isn't

The San Marco Troop Backpack suits overlanders, campers, and motorcycle travelers who need a high-volume, durable canvas pack for hauling bulky gear: helmets, boots, layering clothing, or camp supplies. Its frameless construction makes it a practical secondary bag that stows flat in a vehicle when not loaded.

This pack does not include an internal frame, lumbar padding, or a load-transfer hip belt, so it is not suited for extended backpacking trips where a fitted, load-bearing harness is needed. Each pack is issued surplus and will show individual signs of prior service use; buyers who require a new or unmarked pack should look elsewhere.

Common Questions

What does "Issued" condition mean for this pack?

"Issued" means the San Marco Troop Backpack is genuine Italian military surplus that was fielded during service. Each pack arrives in good used condition and may show minor wear, markings, or stamps from that service. This is expected and consistent with the grade. No two packs will be identical.

Does the pack have a frame or back padding?

The San Marco Troop Backpack is frameless and carries no internal padding or lumbar support. This keeps the pack lightweight and allows it to roll flat when empty, but it means the pack is best suited for vehicle-based carry or short hauls rather than multi-day backpacking with heavy loads.

What fits in the side envelopes?

The two vertical side envelopes on the San Marco Troop Backpack are sized to fit boots or shoes. They can also hold other long or bulky items that would otherwise take up space in the main compartment, keeping dirty or wet gear separated from the rest of your load.

Can this pack be restocked if it sells out?

The San Marco Troop Backpack is sourced from a finite lot of Italian military surplus. Once the current stock is gone, availability cannot be guaranteed. If this pack is in stock when you are ready to buy, that is the best time to order.
