Sea to Summit Hangout Mode Poleset

The Sea to Summit Hangout Mode Poleset is a dedicated two-pole set for Telos tent owners who want to activate Hangout Mode without using trekking poles. Made from anodised aluminium using a combination of DAC Featherlite NSL 8.5 mm and 9.0 mm pole sections, the set weighs 135 g (4.8 oz) and packs to 45 × 3 × 3 cm.

A Dedicated Setup, Not a Workaround

Hangout Mode transforms the Telos tent into a semi-open sheltered space, but it normally relies on trekking poles to hold the structure. The Hangout Mode Poleset removes that dependency entirely. Each pole extends to 1.25 m (4 ft 1 in), pops into the designated attachment points, and stays put while you peg out. No improvising, no adjusting trekking pole height mid-setup.

Engineered for the Telos Pole System

The poles use a combination of thinner 8.5 mm Featherlite NSL sections and thicker 9.0 mm NSL sections, balancing low weight against the lateral load Hangout Mode places on the structure. Three-segment construction lets the folded poles tuck alongside the main Telos pole set in the same bag, so the poleset travels as part of the tent kit rather than as a separate item to track.

Ready to Carry, Ready to Use

An included pole strap keeps both poles bundled together between uses, and the set ships in a nylon stuff sack. At 135 g for the pair, the poleset adds minimal weight for campers who want the Hangout Mode option available on every trip without relying on trekking poles they may not always carry.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Hangout Mode Poleset suits Telos tent owners who want to use Hangout Mode without relying on trekking poles, particularly campers and backpackers who don't carry trekking poles on every trip or who prefer a self-contained tent kit.

This poleset is designed specifically for the Sea to Summit Telos tent and its Hangout Mode attachment points. It is not a universal pole set and is not intended for use with other tent brands or models.

Common Questions

Do I need this poleset to use Hangout Mode, or can I use my trekking poles instead?

Hangout Mode on the Telos tent can be activated with trekking poles. The Hangout Mode Poleset is an optional dedicated alternative for campers who prefer not to use trekking poles or who don't carry them. The poleset extends to 1.25 m (4 ft 1 in) to match the required height.

How do the poles store when not in use?

The Hangout Mode Poleset uses three-segment construction so the folded poles fit alongside the main Telos tent pole set. An included pole strap keeps both poles bundled, and the set packs into a nylon stuff sack at 45 × 3 × 3 cm (18 × 1 × 1 in).

What are the poles made of, and how much do they weigh?

The Hangout Mode Poleset poles are made from anodised aluminium using DAC Featherlite NSL construction, combining 8.5 mm and 9.0 mm diameter sections. The complete set of two poles weighs 135 g (4.8 oz).

Will this poleset work with Sea to Summit tents other than the Telos?

The Hangout Mode Poleset is designed for the Sea to Summit Telos tent and its Hangout Mode configuration specifically. Compatibility with other Sea to Summit tent models is not stated in the product data.
