The Renogy REGO 30A MPPT Solar Charge Controller is a multi-voltage solar charge controller for 12V, 24V, 36V, and 48V battery systems, rated for a 30A charge current and up to 150V open-circuit solar input. With greater than 99% MPPT tracking efficiency and greater than 97% conversion efficiency, the REGO 30A suits RV, van, off-grid cabin, and overlanding builds where maximizing harvest from a solar array is the priority.

Harvest More Power from Every Panel Configuration

The REGO 30A accepts up to 150V open-circuit solar input, which means panels can be wired in series, parallel, or a series-parallel combination rather than being forced into a single low-voltage string. For a 12V battery bank the controller handles up to 440W of solar input; for a 24V bank, up to 880W; for a 36V bank, up to 1,314W; and for a 48V bank, up to 1,700W. That headroom lets a builder add panels incrementally without replacing the controller, and the Power Catcher MPPT algorithm continuously locks to the maximum power point as sunlight and temperature shift through the day.

Monitor and Manage from the DC HOME App

Built-in Bluetooth and RV-C connectivity let the REGO 30A communicate with the Renogy DC HOME app and RV-C-compatible displays without a separate adapter. A real-time clock logs up to a full year of power-generation data, so daily and seasonal performance trends are available for review rather than estimated. Over-the-air firmware updates can be applied remotely, and a rollback mechanism is included for recovery if an update fails.

Stable Output in Heat and at Altitude

The REGO 30A delivers its full 30A charge current at an ambient temperature of 45°C (113°F) and at altitudes up to 3,000 meters, conditions common in desert overlanding and high-elevation basecamp use. Heat dissipation is handled by an integrated heat sink rather than a fan, reducing moving parts. The enclosure carries an IP43 rating, providing protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water spray up to 60° from vertical, suitable for protected indoor or enclosed-compartment mounting in humid environments.

Error-Proof Wiring and Broad Battery Compatibility

Amphenol connectors and IP67-rated solar connectors are used at the panel input, designed to seat positively and resist loosening or slipping under vibration. The controller auto-detects battery voltage across the 8V–64V operating range, eliminating manual voltage selection for non-lithium banks. Battery type is selected via a front-panel button or the DC HOME app, covering AGM, Gel, SLD (sealed lead-acid), FLD (flooded), lithium (four cell groups), and a User mode for custom charge profiles. A battery temperature sensor is included in the box for temperature-compensated charging of non-lithium batteries.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The REGO 30A is suited to RV, van conversion, overlanding trailer, and off-grid cabin solar builds running 12V, 24V, 36V, or 48V battery banks, particularly where panels are wired in series to exceed 18V open-circuit or where a single controller must handle up to 1,700W of array input. Builders who want app-based monitoring and RV-C bus integration without a separate Bluetooth module will benefit from the built-in connectivity.

The REGO 30A does not include a load output terminal for directly powering DC loads from the controller; a separate load distribution solution is required. No fuse is included: a 30A ANL fuse (sold separately) must be installed between the controller and the battery bank. The IP43 enclosure rating is not suitable for direct outdoor exposure. The unit requires a sheltered or enclosed mounting location such as inside a van, trailer, or equipment compartment.

Common Questions

Can panels be wired in series with the REGO 30A?

The REGO 30A MPPT Solar Charge Controller accepts up to 150V open-circuit solar input, so panels can be wired in series, parallel, or a series-parallel combination. The only constraint is that the combined open-circuit voltage of the string must not exceed 150VDC.

How much solar can the REGO 30A handle?

Maximum solar input power depends on battery bank voltage: 440W for a 12V system, 880W for a 24V system, 1,314W for a 36V system, and 1,700W for a 48V system. The rated charge current into the battery is 30A regardless of system voltage.

Does the REGO 30A work with lithium batteries?

The REGO 30A Solar Charge Controller supports lithium battery types across four cell groups using a 2-stage Bulk/Boost algorithm. Battery type is selected via the front-panel button or the DC HOME app. Temperature compensation is set to 0mV/°C for lithium, meaning no temperature-based voltage adjustment is applied.

Is a fuse included, and where does it go?

No fuse is included with the REGO 30A. A fuse must be installed in the wiring between the charge controller and the battery bank. For a 30A controller, a 30A ANL fuse is the appropriate size; the fuse is sold separately.

What does the built-in Bluetooth connect to?

The REGO 30A's built-in Bluetooth connects to the Renogy DC HOME app, which displays real-time power generation data and allows battery type selection and other settings to be adjusted remotely. The controller also supports RV-C communication for integration with compatible RV monitoring systems.

Where can the REGO 30A be mounted?

The REGO 30A carries an IP43 enclosure rating, which provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water spray up to 60° from vertical. The unit is suited to sheltered or enclosed locations such as inside a van, trailer, or equipment compartment, rather than direct outdoor exposure. Four mounting screws are included.
