The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box is an indoor-rated, wall-mount steel enclosure that centralizes circuit protection for DC solar energy systems in RVs, cabins, trucks, and marine applications. Five copper busbars (PV positive, PV negative, battery positive, battery negative, and grounding) handle up to 250VDC on the PV side and up to 1000VDC on the battery side, with a busbar rated current of 200A. Circuit breakers, surge protection devices, and ground fault circuit interrupters are sold separately and are not included.
Sectional Control for Every Circuit
The five-busbar layout lets each device pair in a solar system (panels to controller, controller to battery, battery to inverter) have its own dedicated circuit breaker position. That means a single circuit can be isolated for maintenance or inspection without shutting down the entire system. For a build that grows over time, sectional control also makes it straightforward to add or swap components without rewiring the whole distribution point.
Surge and Ground Fault Ready
The DIN rail inside the enclosure accepts surge protection devices and ground fault circuit interrupters alongside standard miniature and molded-case circuit breakers. Renogy suggests a combination of two 1P miniature circuit breakers, one 2P molded case circuit breaker, one 2P surge protection device, and one 2P ground fault circuit interrupter for comprehensive solar system protection. All of those components are purchased separately. Having the mounting infrastructure already in place means protection can be added or upgraded without sourcing a new enclosure.
Cold-Formed Steel Enclosure with IP54 Rating
The enclosure body is cold-formed steel, which resists corrosion and holds its shape under the mechanical stress of wall mounting. An IP54 protection rating means the box is guarded against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, appropriate for indoor installations in spaces like van interiors, RV bays, or cabin utility rooms where humidity and dust are present. A keyed cam lock secures the door, and three included labels allow circuit identification at the panel.

Who This Is For and Isn't
The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box suits builders of residential, RV, van, cabin, truck, or marine DC solar systems who need a single, organized enclosure to house circuit breakers and protection devices for multiple device pairs. The IP54 rating and keyed door make it appropriate for indoor utility spaces where dust and humidity are present.
The box does not include any circuit breakers, surge protection devices, or ground fault circuit interrupters. Those must be sourced and installed separately. The enclosure is rated for indoor installation only and is not suitable for direct outdoor exposure. The DIN rail and busbar layout are designed for DC solar applications; this is not an AC load center or residential AC panel.
Common Questions
What is this enclosure used for?
The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box is an indoor-rated enclosure for centralizing circuit protection in DC solar energy systems. It provides a single mounting point for circuit breakers and protection devices that manage the connections between solar panels, charge controllers, batteries, and inverters, allowing each circuit segment to be isolated independently for maintenance or safety.
Are circuit breakers included with the box?
No. The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box ships with the enclosure, one key, and three labels only. Circuit breakers, surge protection devices, and ground fault circuit interrupters must be purchased separately. For a solar panel system, Renogy suggests two 1P miniature circuit breakers, one 2P molded case circuit breaker, one 2P surge protection device, and one 2P ground fault circuit interrupter.
What wire gauges does the box accept?
The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box accepts a range of conductor sizes depending on terminal type and busbar. PV and grounding busbars take 14 AWG–6 AWG via compression terminals or 12 AWG–4 AWG via lug terminals. Battery busbars take 14 AWG–6 AWG via compression terminals or 12 AWG–2/0 AWG via lug terminals. The main conductor size range is 4 AWG–4/0 AWG.
Can this box be installed outdoors?
The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box is rated for indoor installation only. The IP54 enclosure rating provides protection against dust and water splashing, which suits indoor utility spaces such as van bays, RV compartments, and cabin utility rooms. The box is not designed or rated for direct outdoor exposure to weather.
How is the enclosure secured and mounted?
The Renogy DC Circuit Breaker Box mounts vertically to a wall using rear mounting holes. The door is secured with a keyed cam lock: to lock, tighten the black ring first, then turn the key; to open, use the key first, then twist the black ring. Eight conduit knockouts (four at 1.99 inch and four at 1.12 inch diameter) provide cable entry points, with provisions for waterproof strain reliefs or conduits.
