The Rago Fabrication Rear Shock Guards are bolt-on steel armor for the 2016–2023 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma, built to shield both the shock body and shock shaft from rock strikes, trail debris, and water damage during off-road use. Sold as a pair, they fit most aftermarket shocks on the market (specific exceptions are noted in the fitment section below).
Built to Outlast the Trail
Rear shocks sit low and exposed on the Tacoma, putting the shock body and the vulnerable shaft seal directly in the path of rocks, mud, and brush. A torn shaft seal means oil loss, fade, and an expensive rebuild or replacement. The Rago Fabrication Shock Guards wrap the shock body and extend downward to cover the shaft, keeping the seal intact through the kind of abuse that ends shock life prematurely. The 3/16" steel construction absorbs impacts that would dent or crack thinner materials, so the guard takes the hit instead of the shock.
No Drilling, No Guesswork
Installation is completely bolt-on using the included hardware. No drilling into the frame or suspension components is required. That keeps the install straightforward and leaves the Tacoma's structure unmodified. All mounting hardware ships with the guards, so no separate trip to the hardware store is needed before getting them on the truck.
Water Crossings Considered
A drain hole positioned at the lowest point of each guard prevents water from pooling inside after a crossing. Without a drain, trapped water accelerates corrosion and can hold grit against the shock shaft. Those are exactly the conditions that wear out seals. The drain hole is a deliberate design choice, not an afterthought, and it matters on trails where standing water is part of the route.

Who This Is For and Isn't
These shock guards suit 2016–2023 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma owners running aftermarket shocks (including Radflo, Fox, Old Man Emu, Icon, and Rancho) who wheel on rocky or brushy terrain where exposed shock bodies and shafts are at real risk of damage.
These guards are not compatible with TRD Pro Tacomas equipped with OEM Fox Shocks, TRD Pro models with offset RTT Shocks, or any truck running the Icon RXT style shock. They are not designed for or tested on Tacoma model years outside 2016–2023.
Common Questions
Will these fit my aftermarket shocks?
The Rago Fabrication Tacoma Rear Shock Guards are designed to fit most shocks on the market, including Radflo, Fox, Old Man Emu, Icon, and Rancho shocks. The confirmed exceptions are TRD Pro OEM Fox Shocks, TRD Pro offset RTT Shocks, and the Icon RXT style shock. None of those are compatible with this guard.
Do I need to drill my Tacoma to install these?
No drilling is required. The Rago Fabrication Rear Shock Guards are completely bolt-on, and all mounting hardware is included in the purchase. No modification to the frame or suspension is needed for installation on a 2016–2023 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma.
What is included when I order?
Each order of the Rago Fabrication Tacoma Rear Shock Guards includes one pair of guards (covering both rear shocks) along with all hardware needed for installation. No additional hardware purchase is required.
Why does the guard have a drain hole?
The drain hole in the Rago Fabrication Rear Shock Guard is positioned at the lowest point of the guard specifically to allow water to exit after a water crossing. Without it, water can pool inside the guard and hold grit against the shock shaft, accelerating wear on the shaft seal.
Does this protect the shock shaft, or just the shock body?
The Rago Fabrication Rear Shock Guard extends beyond the shock body to cover the shock shaft as well. Damage to the shaft or its seal causes oil leaks that shorten shock life, and the guard is designed to address both exposure points.
