The ICON Vehicle Dynamics Front Lower Control Arm Kit is a stock-width, high-clearance replacement for 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma models, built from fully welded, boxed, CNC laser cut and brake formed steel plate with internal ribbing for substantially greater strength than the factory lower control arms. A model-specific hardware kit (sold separately) is also required for installation; see application notes below. Compatible Tacoma variants and required companion parts differ by model year.
Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.
Built Stronger Than Stock Where It Counts
The boxed steel construction (laser cut, brake formed, and internally braced with multiple ribs) resists the twisting and bending loads that flex or crack factory stamped-steel arms under repeated off-road stress. Recessed coilover mounting points replace the traditional top-mounted tabs, removing a common stress riser and giving the arm a cleaner, race-derived profile. Pocketed lower plates allow drainage and keep the coilover hardware accessible without removing the arm.
High-Clearance Geometry That Protects the Front End
Specially angled front plates and relocated steering stops let the arms slide over rocks and trail obstacles rather than catching on them. CNC machined forged steel ball joint housings keep ground clearance as high as possible while maintaining the CV boot clearance that 4WD Tacoma models require. The result is a front suspension that can run larger obstacles without the arm geometry becoming the limiting factor.
Ball Joints and Bushings Designed for Long Service Life
The lower ball joints use a metal-on-metal, greaseable design rather than uniballs, which wear faster and develop noise under street use. Greasing on a normal service interval keeps the joint quiet and functional through aggressive off-road use. The inner pivot bushings are bonded polyurethane to the outer sleeve with an unbonded inner sleeve: this combination minimizes deflection and improves handling feel while allowing full suspension travel without binding. The bushings require no greasing or maintenance over their service life.
S2 Secondary Shock Compatibility Built In
Integrated secondary shock mounting tabs allow a fully bolt-on installation of ICON S2 Secondary Shocks (S2 Shock Hoops sold separately), effectively doubling front shock damping capacity for demanding off-road use. This compatibility is designed into the arm geometry rather than added as an afterthought, so the mounting points align correctly with ICON's S2 system without modification.

Who This Is For and Isn't
This kit suits 2005–2015 Toyota Tacoma 4WD and PreRunner owners and 2016–2023 Tacoma 2WD/4WD owners who are running or planning to run aftermarket coilovers with COM10 lower bearings and want a stronger, higher-clearance front lower control arm with built-in compatibility for ICON's S2 secondary shock system.
This kit does not fit 2005–2015 Toyota Tacoma 2WD 5-lug models and is not compatible with OE front coilovers. Installation requires a model-specific hardware kit (part #54302 for 2005–2015 or part #54301 for 2016–2023), sold separately. S2 Shock Hoops are also sold separately. Maximum steering angle is reduced when the arms are configured for S2 secondary shock use.
Common Questions
Do I need anything else to install these control arms?
Yes. A model-specific hardware kit is required and is not included with the ICON Front Lower Control Arm Kit. 2005–2015 Tacoma owners need ICON part #54302; 2016–2023 Tacoma owners need ICON part #54301. Both are sold separately. S2 Shock Hoops are also sold separately if you plan to run the S2 secondary shock system.
Will these arms work with my factory front coilovers?
No. The ICON Tacoma Front Lower Control Arm Kit is not compatible with OE front coilovers. Aftermarket coilovers with COM10 lower bearings are required for proper installation and function.
Does this kit fit all 2005–2015 Tacoma models?
No. The ICON Front Lower Control Arm Kit fits 2005–2015 Toyota Tacoma 4WD and PreRunner models only. It does not fit 2005–2015 Tacoma 2WD 5-lug models. All 2016–2023 Tacoma 2WD and 4WD models are supported.
Will my stock wheels and tires still fit after installing these arms?
Yes. The ICON Tacoma Front Lower Control Arm Kit is confirmed compatible with OEM wheels and tires. For aftermarket fitment, ICON's technical notes recommend 17x8.5 wheels with 4.75" backspace or 18x9 and 20x9 wheels with 5.00" backspace, and tires up to 33x11.50" without fender modification.
Does configuring the arms for S2 secondary shocks affect steering?
Yes. When the ICON Front Lower Control Arm Kit is configured for S2 secondary shock compatibility, maximum steering angle is reduced. This is a stated application note for this kit and should be considered when planning the full suspension build.
