The ICON Vehicle Dynamics 2.5 VS RR/CDCV Rear Shock pair is a vehicle-specific, nitrogen-charged monotube shock designed for 1991–2007 Toyota Land Cruiser with 0–3 inches of rear lift. Each shock features a 2.5-inch aluminum body, a piggyback remote reservoir, and ICON's externally adjustable CDC Valve for 10 levels of compression damping. These shocks are not compatible with 100 Series Land Cruiser models equipped with the rear air suspension (AHC) system.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Internal Bump Zone Control

A 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned below the top cap creates an internal Bump Zone that adds 20% of damping force as the shock approaches full compression. For Land Cruiser owners who push the vehicle hard on rough terrain, this means the suspension resists harsh bottom-outs without requiring a separate external bump stop. The control is built into the shock's own architecture.

10-Level CDC Valve Adjustability

ICON's Continuous Damping Control (CDC) Valve is an externally adjustable valve that restricts oil flow into the remote reservoir, producing 10 distinct levels of compression damping. Turning a single knob lets the driver dial the shock from a more compliant setting for daily highway use to a firmer, high-speed off-road tune, without removing the shock or disassembling anything. Premium 5WT shock oil maintains consistent damping across a wide temperature range, so the tune set at camp still behaves the same on the trail.

Remote Reservoir Heat Management

The piggyback remote reservoir increases oil volume and surface area, which reduces heat buildup during sustained high-speed off-road use. Shock fade (the loss of damping performance as oil heats up) is a real problem on long washboard sections or repeated obstacle crossings. The larger reservoir gives the 2.5 VS more thermal headroom than a standard monotube, keeping damping consistent deeper into a run.

Features

  • Internal Bump Zone: 6061 billet aluminum manifold adds 20% damping force near full compression
  • CDC Valve: 10-level external compression adjustment with a single knob
  • Nitrogen-charged monotube: piggyback remote reservoir design for improved heat dissipation
  • 7/8" shock shaft: induction-hardened, chrome-plated for durability and corrosion resistance
  • One-piece digressive piston: vehicle-specific valving for on- and off-road performance
  • 100% rebuildable and revalveable: PTFE-lined spherical bearings and application-specific mounting hardware included

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit 1991–2007 Toyota Land Cruiser owners running 0–3 inches of rear lift who want externally adjustable compression damping and improved high-speed off-road control. They are a strong fit for overlanders and off-road drivers who want a shock they can rebuild and retune rather than replace.

These shocks do not fit 100 Series Toyota Land Cruiser models equipped with the factory rear air suspension (AHC) system. When installed with stock rear coil springs (or some aftermarket coil springs), the vehicle will ride in the Bump Zone of the shock, and those springs may come unseated at full droop. This is a documented application limitation (Application Note #71). These shocks are rear-position only and are not a front shock replacement.

Common Questions

Which Land Cruiser years and configurations do these shocks fit?

The ICON 57802CP rear shock pair fits 1991–2007 Toyota Land Cruiser with 0–3 inches of rear lift. They are not compatible with 100 Series Land Cruiser models equipped with the factory rear air suspension (AHC) system. Confirm your vehicle's suspension configuration before ordering.

What happens if I install these with stock rear coil springs?

Per ICON Application Note #71, installing the 57802CP shocks with stock rear coil springs, or some aftermarket coil springs, will cause the vehicle to ride in the Bump Zone of the shock. Those springs may also come unseated at full droop. ICON recommends pairing these shocks with appropriate lift springs to avoid this condition.

How does the CDC Valve compression adjustment work?

The CDC Valve on these ICON 2.5 VS rear shocks is an externally accessible knob that restricts oil flow into the remote reservoir. Turning it cycles through 10 levels of compression damping force, from softer to firmer, without removing the shock. Adjustment can be made with the vehicle on the ground.

What is the Bump Zone and why does it matter?

The Bump Zone is created by a 6061 billet aluminum manifold inside the shock body that adds 20% of damping force as the shock nears full compression. On rough terrain, this resists harsh bottom-outs and controls suspension movement at high compression velocity, reducing the jarring impacts that occur when a standard shock runs out of travel.

Are these shocks rebuildable, and what is included?

The ICON 2.5 VS RR/CDCV shocks are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable. The pair ships with PTFE-lined spherical bearings and application-specific mounting hardware. Shock oil and internal components can be serviced or revalved by a qualified suspension shop.
