The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 3.0 Series front shock absorbers with remote reservoir and CDXS are a vehicle-specific pair built for 2020–2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 HD trucks running 0–3.5" of front lift over stock (0–2" on the Silverado 2500 ZR2 and Sierra 2500 AT4X). The 3.0" body diameter, dual-speed compression adjustment, and internal Bump Zone set these apart from smaller-diameter shock options in ICON's lineup.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

More Piston Area, Less Fade

The 3.0" body gives these shocks 50% more piston surface area than ICON's 2.5 Series shocks. Greater piston area means more oil moves with each stroke, producing more consistent damping force when the suspension is working hard on rough terrain. The larger body also holds more oil volume and exposes more external surface area, so heat built up during extended off-road use dissipates faster, reducing the shock fade that can make a truck feel unpredictable late in a long trail run.

Dual-Speed Compression Tuning

ICON's Compression Damping Dual Speed (CDXS) valves give independent control over high-speed and low-speed compression damping. Low-speed adjustment dials in body-motion response for on-road handling; high-speed adjustment controls how the shock reacts to sharp hits and high-velocity suspension events off-road. Each knob has 10 detented settings, so changes are repeatable and precise without tools beyond what's needed to reach the adjuster.

Internal Bump Zone Control

A 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned below the top cap creates an internal Bump Zone that adds 20% more damping force as the shock approaches full compression. That progressive resistance helps prevent harsh bottom-outs at speed without making the mid-stroke feel stiff during normal driving. The remote reservoir extends oil capacity further, keeping fluid temperatures lower during sustained hard use.

Features

  • 3.0" body diameter: 50% more piston surface area than ICON 2.5 Series shocks for increased stability and control
  • CDXS dual-speed compression: 10 detented settings each for independent high-speed and low-speed compression adjustment
  • Internal Bump Zone: 6061 billet aluminum manifold adds 20% damping force near full compression to resist bottom-outs
  • Cerakoted steel cylinders: corrosion-resistant finish for long-term durability
  • 7/8" chrome-plated shaft: induction hardened for wear resistance
  • 100% rebuildable and revalveable: fully serviceable for long-term ownership

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit 2020–2026 Silverado 2500/3500 HD and Sierra 2500/3500 HD owners who want a high-travel, tunable front shock for off-road use and are running or planning 0–3.5" of front lift (or up to 2" on the ZR2 and AT4X trims). Buyers who want independent compression tuning without sending shocks out for revalving will benefit from the CDXS adjustment range.

These shocks do not fit any other make, model, or generation beyond the 2020–2026 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 HD. Extended travel requires ICON Delta Joint Pro front upper control arms, which are not included. Lift heights stated are for a stock-equipped vehicle; a truck already modified beyond the stated range may not be compatible.

Common Questions

Do these shocks require any other parts to install?

The ICON V.S. 3.0 front shocks (71704XP) require ICON Delta Joint Pro front upper control arms to achieve their extended travel length. Those control arms are sold separately. The shocks themselves are compatible with 0–3.5" of front lift on most 2020–2026 Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500 HD submodels, and 0–2" on the Silverado 2500 ZR2 and Sierra 2500 AT4X.

What does CDXS mean and how is it adjusted?

CDXS stands for Compression Damping Dual Speed. Each shock has two independent adjustment knobs, one for high-speed compression and one for low-speed compression, each with 10 detented positions. Low-speed settings affect body roll and on-road handling response; high-speed settings control reaction to sharp impacts and fast suspension events off-road. Adjustments are made at the shock body without removing the shock.

What is the Bump Zone and what does it do?

The Bump Zone is created by a 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned below the top cap of the shock. As the shock nears full compression, the manifold increases damping force by 20%, providing progressive resistance that helps prevent harsh bottom-outs during high-speed off-road use without stiffening the mid-stroke feel during normal driving.

Can these shocks be rebuilt or revalved later?

The ICON V.S. 3.0 Series shocks are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable. Seals, oil, and valving can be serviced or changed to suit different driving conditions or to restore performance after extended use, which extends the usable life of the shocks beyond what a sealed unit would offer.

Are these shocks sold as a pair or individually?

SKU 71704XP includes two front shocks, covering both sides of the front axle on the 2020–2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500/3500 HD.
