The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Remote Reservoir Coilover Kit is a pair of height-adjustable front coilovers engineered for 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma trucks running a Pro Comp 6" subframe lift. The 2.5" shock body, remote reservoir, and ICON's exclusive Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) deliver tunable, fade-resistant performance on pavement and off-road. This kit fits 4WD Tacoma only and is not compatible with 2WD models that have 5 wheel lug studs.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Built Around a Larger Shock Body

The 2.5" shock body provides greater piston area than stock components, which translates directly into more suspension travel and more consistent damping force across a wider range of inputs. Combined with vehicle-specific valving and application-matched shock length, the coilovers work with the geometry of the 2005–2023 Tacoma rather than against it, so the suspension moves through its full range without binding or bottoming prematurely on rough terrain.

Remote Reservoirs Resist Fade Under Hard Use

Remote reservoirs increase shock oil volume and heat-dissipation surface area, reducing the risk of overheating and cavitation during extended off-road use. Cavitation (gas bubbles forming in the shock oil) causes damper fade, the gradual loss of control feel that sets in after repeated hard hits. By keeping oil temperature lower, the remote reservoir helps the coilovers perform consistently from the first mile of a trail to the last.

Ten Settings of External Compression Adjustment

ICON's CDCV (Compression Damping Control Valve) controls fluid flow under compression and offers 10 externally adjustable settings. A driver can dial in a softer tune for street commuting, a mid-range setting for mixed terrain, or a firmer setting for high-speed desert running, all without removing the shock or changing any internal components. The coilovers are also fully rebuildable and re-tunable, so the investment extends well beyond the initial install.

Features

  • Height-adjustable design: allows fine-tuning of ride height and accommodates larger wheel and tire combinations
  • CDCV with 10 compression settings: external adjustment for street, crawling, or high-speed off-road use
  • Remote reservoir: increases oil volume and heat dissipation to resist damper fade
  • 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC components: corrosion-resistant CAD-plated shock bodies with 7/8" diameter shafts
  • FK rod end bearings: extended longevity and minimal deflection under load
  • Fully rebuildable and re-tunable: serviceable for long-term use

Who This Is For and Isn't

This coilover kit suits 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD owners who have installed or are installing a Pro Comp 6" subframe lift and want height-adjustable, externally tunable front suspension with remote-reservoir fade resistance for mixed street and off-road use.

This kit does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. It requires a compatible 6" subframe lift and is not a bolt-on replacement for stock-height or lesser-lift applications. A 700 lb coil spring (available separately) is recommended for heavier-equipped vehicles. ADAS systems must be recalibrated after installation.

Common Questions

Will this coilover kit fit a 2WD Tacoma?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Coilover Kit (58731C-CB) does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. It is engineered specifically for 4WD Tacoma applications from model years 2005 through 2023.

Does my truck need a specific lift kit installed first?

Yes. This coilover kit's shock length is optimized for a Pro Comp 6" subframe lift. The coilover length may also be compatible with 6" subframe lifts from other brands, but compatibility outside the Pro Comp application is not confirmed. It is not designed for stock-height or smaller-lift configurations.

What does the CDCV do and how is it adjusted?

The Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) regulates fluid flow under compression and provides 10 externally accessible settings. Adjustments are made from outside the shock body without disassembly, letting the driver tune damping firmness for street driving, technical crawling, or high-speed off-road use.

What is included in this kit?

The kit includes a pair of V.S. 2.5 Series front coilovers with remote reservoirs, CDCV, and ICON-engineered coil springs. A 700 lb coil spring for heavier-equipped vehicles and accessory items such as spanner wrenches and reservoir hose shields are available separately.

Does installing this kit affect my vehicle's driver-assistance systems?

Yes. Per ICON Application Note #155, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) require recalibration after installation of this coilover kit. This applies to any Tacoma equipped with ADAS features such as lane departure warning or automatic emergency braking.
