The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Front Remote Reservoir Shocks (SKU 27840P, sold as a pair) are application-specific monotube shocks engineered for 2007–2018 Jeep JK Wranglers running a 4.5-inch lift. Each shock is valved, lengthed, and tuned exclusively for this fitment, delivering controlled off-road performance and a composed street ride. Both shocks in the pair are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Built Around the Bump Zone

A 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned just below the top cap creates what ICON calls an internal Bump Zone. As the shock approaches full compression, this geometry generates an additional 20% of damping force. For a JK Wrangler running 4.5 inches of lift, that means the suspension resists harsh bottom-outs during high-velocity compression (on rock ledges, whoops, or fast desert terrain) without requiring a separate external bump stop upgrade to manage the same event.

Remote Reservoir for Sustained Performance

The piggyback remote reservoir separates the oil volume from the main shock body, increasing fluid capacity and surface area for heat dissipation. During prolonged off-road use, whether on extended trail runs or repeated high-speed hits, the larger oil volume resists the fade that builds in a standard twin-tube shock as fluid heats up. Premium 5WT shock oil maintains consistent damping across a wide temperature range, so the tune that works on a cold morning trail holds through a hot afternoon run.

Hardware Built to Last and Be Serviced

The shock shaft is 7/8-inch diameter, induction hardened and chrome plated for resistance to bending and corrosion. The shock body is CAD-plated, precision-machined 1026 DOM steel. PTFE-lined spherical bearings and polyurethane bushings with forged steel mounting stems provide OE-style fitment without slop. Because every component is serviceable, a worn shaft seal or a valving change does not mean replacing the entire shock. ICON V.S. 2.5 Series shocks can be rebuilt and revalved to a different tune as the build evolves.

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit 2007–2018 Jeep JK Wrangler owners running a 4.5-inch front lift who want an application-tuned, rebuildable remote-reservoir shock with sustained off-road performance and a serviceable upgrade path.

These shocks are not compatible with JK Wranglers at lift heights other than 4.5 inches, and they do not fit any other vehicle make, model, or generation. Rear shocks are sold separately. A Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) upgrade and reservoir hose shield are available as separate purchases.

Common Questions

What lift height are these shocks designed for?

These ICON V.S. 2.5 Series front shocks are valved and dimensioned specifically for a 4.5-inch lift on 2007–2018 Jeep JK Wranglers. Using them at a different lift height would place the shock outside its intended travel range and is not a supported application.

Do these shocks come as a pair or individually?

SKU 27840P includes two front shocks, a complete pair for one vehicle. Rear shocks for the JK Wrangler are sold separately and are not included in this listing.

What is the internal Bump Zone and why does it matter?

The Bump Zone is created by a 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned just below the shock's top cap. As the shock nears full compression, this design generates an additional 20% of damping force, resisting harsh bottom-outs during high-velocity hits without requiring a separate bump stop to manage the same event.

Can these shocks be rebuilt or retuned after installation?

Yes. ICON V.S. 2.5 Series shocks are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable. If the valving tune needs to change as the build evolves, or if a seal wears over time, the shock can be serviced rather than replaced. An optional Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) upgrade is also available for a more user-adjustable tune.

Why does a remote reservoir improve performance on long trail runs?

The piggyback remote reservoir increases the total oil volume and heat-dissipation surface area compared to a standard shock body. During extended or repeated high-speed off-road use, this larger volume resists the damping fade that builds as shock fluid heats up, keeping the suspension tune more consistent throughout a long day on trail.
