The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit with CDEV is a remote-reservoir, extended-travel coilover pair for the 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD, delivering 0–3.5 inches of lift adjustability on 2005–2015 models and 0–2.75 inches on 2016–2023 models, with Compression Damping Electronic Valve (CDEV) technology for in-cabin and app-controlled damping tuning. The 700 lb/in spring rate and 2.5-inch shock body are available in a single SKU (58735E-700) covering all supported model years.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Larger Shock Body, More Damping Capability

The 2.5-inch shock body and increased piston area over stock components give the coilovers greater oil volume and damping range. More consistent control across washboard, rock, and high-speed desert terrain follows directly from that added resolution: a stock shock runs out of damping capacity where the V.S. 2.5 Series does not. Corrosion-resistant CAD-plated shock bodies with 7/8-inch induction-hardened, chrome-plated shafts and FK rod end bearings are designed for long service life and minimal deflection under load.

Remote Reservoirs Keep Temperatures in Check

Remote reservoirs increase oil volume beyond what a body-only shock can carry, extending the duration of consistent damping during sustained off-road use and reducing heat buildup under heavy cycling. For a Tacoma used on multi-day overland runs or repeated high-speed passes, cooler operating temperatures mean the damping character stays predictable rather than fading as the shock heats up.

Electronic Damping Adjustment via CDEV and ICON Intelligent Control

The Compression Damping Electronic Valve meters oil flow to regulate damping force during compression. The valve is infinitely variable, reacts in under 40 milliseconds, and is hydraulically tailored to the Tacoma's specific application for the widest usable dynamic range. Paired with the ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) system and the ICON mobile app, the onboard G-force sensor and gyroscope feed real-time terrain data into user-defined algorithms that adjust the CDEV automatically. Note: full IIC functionality also requires the separately sold IIC install kit and CDEV-equipped rear shocks; the ICON Intelligent Control app requires an iOS device.

Features

  • 2.5-inch shock body: larger piston area than stock for improved damping ability
  • Remote reservoirs: extended oil volume for cooler, more consistent damping during heavy use
  • CDEV technology: infinitely variable electronic compression damping, reacts in under 40ms
  • 700 lb/in ICON-engineered coil springs: included; recommended for trucks with added front-end weight
  • 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC-machined components: with CAD-plated shock bodies and hardened chrome shafts
  • Bolt-on installation: no cutting or welding required; 100% rebuildable and revalveable

Who This Is For and Isn't

This coilover kit suits 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD owners who want adjustable lift, extended wheel travel, and electronically controlled damping for mixed on-road and off-road use. It is compatible with OEM wheels and tires and is designed for use with aftermarket upper control arms.

This kit does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. The 700 lb/in spring rate is recommended only for trucks with additional weight added to the front end. Full ICON Intelligent Control electronic functionality requires the separately sold IIC install kit and CDEV-equipped rear shocks, and the IIC app requires an iOS device. ADAS recalibration is required after installation. These shocks must be used with aftermarket upper control arms.

Common Questions

Does this kit fit my 2WD Tacoma?

The ICON 58735E-700 coilover kit does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. Fitment is confirmed for 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD only.

What lift height can I expect?

The coilover kit provides 0–3.5 inches of adjustable lift over stock on 2005–2015 Tacomas, 0–2.75 inches on 2016–2023 models, and 0–1.25 inches on 2017–2023 TRD Pro models. Coilover heights indicated are for a stock-equipped vehicle.

Do I need aftermarket upper control arms?

Yes. This coilover system must be used with aftermarket upper control arms. It is not designed for use with stock upper control arms.

What else is required to use the CDEV electronic damping feature?

Full ICON Intelligent Control functionality also requires the separately sold IIC install kit and CDEV-equipped rear shocks. The ICON Intelligent Control app requires an iOS-operated device to run.

Is the 700 lb/in spring rate right for a stock-weight Tacoma?

The 700 lb/in spring rate is recommended specifically for Tacomas with additional weight added to the front end. For a stock-weight truck, a different spring rate may be more appropriate.

Are these shocks rebuildable?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series coilovers are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable, allowing the shocks to be serviced and retuned rather than replaced outright.
