The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit with CDEV is a remote-reservoir coilover pair engineered specifically for the 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma, offering 0–3.5 inches of lift on 2005–2015 models and 0–2.75 inches on 2016–2023 models. On 2017–2023 TRD Pro trucks, the lift range narrows to 0–1.25 inches over stock. The kit ships as a pair with ICON's Compression Damping Electronic Valve (CDEV) system included.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

2.5-Inch Shock Body and Extended Travel

The 2.5-inch shock body delivers a larger piston area than stock components, which translates directly to improved damping capacity across a wider range of terrain and load conditions. Extended travel gives the front suspension the stroke to absorb larger impacts without topping or bottoming out: a practical advantage on washboard forest roads, rocky trails, or any surface where stock suspension runs out of travel. The 7/8-inch induction-hardened, chrome-plated shaft and FK rod end bearings are built to handle that additional travel over the long term without introducing slop or accelerated wear.

Remote Reservoir for Sustained Performance

Remote reservoirs increase the volume of oil available to the shock, which delays heat buildup during extended hard use. Cooler oil maintains consistent viscosity, so damping behavior stays predictable on a long off-road day rather than fading as the shocks warm up. The CAD-plated shock bodies and 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC-machined components provide corrosion resistance and structural integrity across seasons and terrain types. The shocks are fully rebuildable and revalveable, so the investment can be serviced rather than replaced when wear eventually occurs.

CDEV: Electronic Compression Damping from Inside the Cab

ICON's Compression Damping Electronic Valve (CDEV) is an electronically controlled valve that meters oil flow to regulate damping force during compression. The valve reacts in under 40 milliseconds and makes continuously variable adjustments with no stepped presets. ICON's Intelligent Control system, paired with the proprietary ICON mobile app, reads data from an onboard G-force sensor and gyroscope to predict terrain and adjust the CDEV accordingly based on user-defined settings. Note: the ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) install kit and compatible CDEV rear shocks are required to complete the electronic system and are sold separately. An iOS device is required to run the ICON Intelligent Control app.

Features

  • Vehicle-specific valving: sport-tuned compression and rebound calibrated for the Tacoma platform
  • ICON Eibach springs: ICON-engineered Eibach coil springs included
  • CDEV included: infinitely variable electronic compression damping valve reacts in under 40ms
  • 6061 aluminum CNC components: corrosion-resistant CAD-plated shock bodies with hardened chrome shafts
  • FK rod end bearings: extended longevity and minimal deflection under load
  • Bolt-on installation: no cutting or welding required; shocks are fully rebuildable and revalveable

Who This Is For and Isn't

This kit suits 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD owners who want adjustable lift, increased wheel travel, and the option to tune compression damping electronically from inside the cab. It is appropriate for use with OEM wheel and tire sizes and with the recommended aftermarket wheel and tire combinations (up to 33x11.50-inch tires, with trimming required). It requires aftermarket upper control arms and is not designed for use with stock UCAs.

This kit will not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. It is not a standalone electronic damping system: the ICON Intelligent Control install kit and CDEV-compatible rear shocks are required for the IIC/app functionality and are sold separately. An iOS device is required for the ICON Intelligent Control app. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) require recalibration after installation. Larger tires beyond 33x11.50 inches may require fender trimming and additional modifications.

Common Questions

Does this kit fit both 2WD and 4WD Tacomas?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit with CDEV fits 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD models only. It will not fit 2WD Tacoma trucks with 5 wheel lug studs.

Do I need to replace my upper control arms to install this kit?

Yes. These coilovers are designed for use with aftermarket upper control arms only (Application Note #18). They are not compatible with stock Tacoma UCAs and must be paired with an appropriate aftermarket UCA for correct geometry and fitment.

Is the ICON Intelligent Control app system included in this kit?

The CDEV valve hardware is included with this coilover pair. However, the ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) install kit and CDEV-compatible rear shocks are required to complete the electronic system and are sold separately. An iOS device is required to run the ICON Intelligent Control app.

How much lift does this kit provide on a 2016–2023 Tacoma versus a 2005–2015 model?

On 2005–2015 Tacomas, these coilovers provide 0–3.5 inches of adjustable lift over stock. On 2016–2023 models the range is 0–2.75 inches, and on 2017–2023 TRD Pro trucks the range narrows further to 0–1.25 inches over stock.

Do I need to recalibrate my truck's safety systems after installing this kit?

Yes. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) require recalibration after installation of these coilovers. This applies to any Tacoma equipped with ADAS features and should be performed by a qualified technician following installation.
