The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit is a remote-reservoir coilover pair engineered for the 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner, 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and 2003–2009 Lexus GX470, delivering 0–3.5 inches of lift height adjustability and vehicle-specific valving for improved damping on and off-road. The kit ships as a pair and installs without cutting or welding.
Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.
2.5-Inch Shock Body and Remote Reservoir
The 2.5-inch shock body provides a larger piston area than stock components, producing more consistent damping across varying terrain: highway miles, slow rock-crawling, and high-speed desert running. Remote reservoirs extend that consistency further by increasing fluid volume and keeping operating temperatures lower during sustained heavy use, so damping character stays predictable rather than fading mid-trail.
Ten-Position Compression Damping Control
ICON's Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) gives the driver ten external settings to adjust fluid flow under compression without removing the shock. A softer setting suits daily street driving; firmer settings add control during aggressive off-road use. Because the adjustment is external, tuning the suspension to match a load change, a new tire size, or a different trail type takes seconds rather than a shop visit.
Bolt-On Installation and Corrosion-Resistant Construction
The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series front coilover kit is 100% bolt-on, with no cutting or welding required. The shock body carries a corrosion-resistant CAD plating, the shaft is 7/8-inch induction-hardened and chrome-plated, and structural components are CNC-machined from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum. FK Rod End bearings are used at the mounting points for extended service life and minimal deflection under load. The shocks are fully serviceable.
Features
- 0–3.5-inch lift adjustability: height-adjustable coilover perch accommodates a range of lift heights and tire sizes
- CDCV with 10 settings: external compression damping adjustment without removing the shock
- Remote reservoir: increases fluid volume and lowers operating temperature during extended off-road use
- 2.5-inch shock body: larger piston area than stock for improved damping ability
- 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC components: corrosion-resistant CAD-plated body, 7/8-inch induction-hardened chrome-plated shaft
- FK Rod End bearings: extended longevity and minimal deflection at mounting points

Who This Is For and Isn't
This kit suits owners of 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner, 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser, or 2003–2009 Lexus GX470 who want 0–3.5 inches of front lift with externally adjustable compression damping and remote-reservoir performance for mixed street and off-road use. Heavily equipped vehicles can specify the optional 700 lb/in expedition coil spring (sold separately).
This kit covers the front axle only and does not include rear shocks; ICON recommends pairing it with ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series rear shocks, sold separately. Fitment does not extend to 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, or GX470 model years outside the ranges stated above. Running tires larger than 33 x 11.50 inches requires fender trimming and modifications beyond what this kit provides. California residents: this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth anomalies, or other reproductive harm (Proposition 65).
Common Questions
Does this kit include rear shocks?
The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit covers the front axle only and ships as a pair of two front coilovers. Rear shocks are not included; ICON recommends pairing this kit with ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series rear shocks, available separately, to balance vehicle control front to rear.
Will OEM wheels and tires still fit after installation?
Yes. The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series front coilover kit is confirmed compatible with OEM wheels and tires. For aftermarket fitment, ICON recommends 33 x 11.50-inch tires; note that running this tire size requires trimming, and larger tires require additional fender modifications.
How does the CDCV compression adjustment work?
The Compression Damping Control Valve on these coilovers provides ten external adjustment positions that control fluid flow under compression. Adjustments are made from outside the shock body without disassembly, allowing the driver to dial in a softer street tune or a firmer off-road setting as conditions change.
Is cutting or welding required for installation?
No. The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit is 100% bolt-on for the 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner, 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and 2003–2009 Lexus GX470. An installation guide is included. Professional installation is recommended for suspension components of this type.
What if my vehicle is heavily loaded or expedition-equipped?
ICON offers an optional 700 lb/in expedition coil spring for heavier-equipped vehicles (Application Note 47). The bump stop spacer kit 51045 can also be installed to increase preload 0.25 inches beyond the system's maximum. Both items are sold separately.
