The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Internal Reservoir Front Coilover Kit fits 1996–2004 Toyota Tacoma and 1996–2002 Toyota 4Runner (4WD only) and provides 0–3 inches of front lift height adjustability through a 2.5-inch shock body with vehicle-specific length and valving. OEM wheels and tires fit at all heights within that range.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

More Travel and Better Damping Than Stock

The larger 2.5-inch shock body and increased piston area over stock components maximize available wheel travel and improve damping control on- and off-road. Vehicle-specific valving means the shock is tuned for the Tacoma and 4Runner suspension geometry rather than adapted from a universal application, so the damping curve matches how these platforms actually load and unload through a corner or over a trail obstacle.

Built to Last and Be Serviced

Shock bodies are CAD-plated for corrosion resistance. CNC-machined components use 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum. FK rod end bearings reduce deflection and extend service life. The coilovers are fully rebuildable and re-tunable, so worn seals or a change in driving use can be addressed without replacing the entire unit.

Features

  • 0–3" front lift adjustability: height set via threaded collar, compatible with OEM wheels and tires throughout the range
  • 2.5" shock body with internal reservoir: larger piston area over stock for increased wheel travel
  • Vehicle-specific valving: tuned for 1996–2004 Tacoma and 1996–2002 4Runner suspension geometry
  • 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC components: CAD-plated shock bodies with 7/8" diameter shafts
  • FK rod end bearings: minimize deflection and extend longevity
  • Fully rebuildable and re-tunable: serviceable in the field or at a shop

Who This Is For and Isn't

This kit suits 1996–2004 Toyota Tacoma 4WD and 1996–2002 Toyota 4Runner owners who want 0–3 inches of adjustable front lift, improved off-road damping, and a shock they can rebuild or retune as their build evolves. A 700 lb/in expedition coil spring is available separately for heavier-equipped vehicles.

This kit does not fit 2WD Toyota Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. It covers the front suspension only; rear shock absorbers are sold separately. Tires larger than the recommended sizes may require fender trimming or modification.

Common Questions

Which Toyota vehicles does this coilover kit fit?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Front Coilover Kit fits 1996–2004 Toyota Tacoma (4WD only) and 1996–2002 Toyota 4Runner. It does not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. It is a front-only kit; rear shocks are sold separately.

Will my stock wheels and tires still fit after installation?

Yes. The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series coilovers are confirmed compatible with OEM wheels and tires across the full 0–3 inch lift range. For aftermarket fitments, ICON recommends 17x8.5", 18x9", or 20x9" ICON Alloys wheels with specific backspacing and offset figures listed in the specifications above.

Can the lift height be adjusted after installation?

Yes. These coilovers use a threaded collar design that allows front lift height to be set anywhere in the 0–3 inch range. The application notes specify that height measurements are based on a stock-equipped vehicle, so a heavier build may sit lower than the collar position suggests.

Are these shocks rebuildable?

Yes. The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series coilovers are fully rebuildable and re-tunable. Worn seals or a change in valving preference can be addressed by servicing the existing units rather than replacing them.

What if my Tacoma is heavily loaded or expedition-equipped?

ICON offers a 700 lb/in expedition coil spring as a separate add-on for heavier-equipped vehicles. The standard kit's included springs are designed for a stock-equipped vehicle; the expedition spring is not included in this kit.
