The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 2.5 Series Extended Travel Front Coilover Kit delivers 0–3.5 inches of front lift height adjustability for the 2010–2024 Toyota 4Runner, 2010–2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and 2010–2023 Lexus GX460, pairing a 2.5-inch shock body with a remote reservoir and Continuous Damping Control Valve (CDCV) for tunable, heat-managed performance on and off-road. The 700 lbs/in coil springs included are rated for vehicles carrying added front-end weight such as aftermarket bumpers or winches.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Larger Shock Body, More Damping Headroom

The 2.5-inch shock body provides greater piston area than stock components, which translates directly to improved damping capacity across varied terrain. Greater piston area allows the shock to manage larger suspension inputs without fading, a practical advantage on washboard, rock ledges, or high-speed desert runs where stock dampers run out of composure. The corrosion-resistant CAD-plated shock body and 7/8-inch shaft with FK Rod End bearings are built for repeated hard use, and a fully serviceable design means the shocks can be revalved or rebuilt rather than replaced.

Remote Reservoir and CDCV Keep Performance Consistent

The external remote reservoir increases fluid volume, which extends the duration of consistent damping and keeps operating temperatures lower during sustained off-road use: the point where shock fade typically sets in. The included ICON CDC Valve adds 10 externally adjustable compression settings, letting the driver dial from soft to firm without removing the shock. That range covers daily highway driving at one end and loaded trail running at the other, without a trip to a shop between the two.

Vehicle-Specific Valving and Extended Travel

ICON's vehicle-specific valving is calibrated for the 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, and GX460 suspension geometry rather than adapted from a universal tune, which supports a sport-oriented feel both on pavement and off. The extended-travel length increases available wheel travel beyond what a standard-length coilover provides, a meaningful gain for articulation on uneven terrain. Aftermarket front upper control arms are required; the extended-travel coilovers are not compatible with OEM upper control arms.

Features

  • 0–3.5 inch front lift adjustability: accommodates larger wheel and tire combinations on a stock-equipped vehicle
  • 2.5-inch shock body: increased piston area over stock for improved damping ability
  • Remote reservoir: extends consistent damping duration and reduces heat buildup during heavy use
  • CDCV with 10 compression settings: external knob adjustment from soft to hard without tools or shock removal
  • 700 lbs/in coil springs included: rated for vehicles with added front-end weight; factory wheels and tires are compatible
  • Fully serviceable design: supports revalves, rebuilds, and long-term service life; bolt-in to OEM shock location

Who This Is For and Isn't

This kit suits 2010–2024 Toyota 4Runner, 2010–2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and 2010–2023 Lexus GX460 owners who want 0–3.5 inches of front lift with tunable, heat-resistant damping for mixed on-road and off-road use, particularly builds carrying added front-end weight such as steel bumpers or winches where the 700 lbs/in spring rate is appropriate.

This kit does not include rear shocks; rear damping requires a separate ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series or 2.5 Series rear shock purchase. Aftermarket front upper control arms are required, as the extended-travel coilovers are not compatible with OEM upper control arms. The 700 lbs/in spring rate is not recommended for stock-weight front ends. This kit does not fit any vehicle outside the stated 4Runner, FJ Cruiser, and GX460 model years.

Common Questions

Do these coilovers work with factory upper control arms?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series Extended Travel coilovers require aftermarket front upper control arms and are not compatible with OEM upper control arms. This is a stated installation requirement for the extended-travel version of this kit; plan for upper control arm replacement as part of the build.

Are rear shocks included in this kit?

No. This kit covers the front coilovers only. ICON recommends pairing these with ICON 2.0 Aluminum Series or 2.5 Series rear shocks to balance vehicle control front to rear; those shocks are sold separately.

Is the 700 lbs/in spring rate right for a stock-weight build?

The 700 lbs/in spring rate is recommended only for vehicles with additional weight added to the front end, such as aftermarket steel bumpers or a winch. For a stock-weight front end, a different spring rate option should be considered.

How does the CDC Valve work and what does it adjust?

The ICON CDC Valve is an external compression adjuster built into the remote reservoir. Turning the knob cycles through 10 settings from soft to hard, changing compression damping without removing or disassembling the shock. The adjustment is made from outside the vehicle at the reservoir.

What wheel and tire sizes fit with this lift kit?

Factory wheels and tires are compatible. ICON's recommended aftermarket wheel sizes are 17x8.5 with 4.75-inch backspace, 18x9 with 5-inch backspace, and 20x9 with 5-inch backspace, all at 0mm offset. The recommended tire size is 33x11.50 inches; larger tires may fit but fender trimming and modifications may be required.

Are these shocks serviceable after installation?

Yes. The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series coilovers are fully serviceable, supporting revalves and rebuilds. ICON describes the service life as immeasurable when maintained, which is a practical advantage over non-serviceable shocks that must be replaced as a unit when worn.
