The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 2.5 Series Extended Travel Remote Reservoir CDC Coilover Kit is a front suspension upgrade for 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser, 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner, and 2003–2009 Lexus GX platforms, delivering 0–3.5 inches of lift height adjustability and a 2.5-inch shock body with vehicle-specific valving. The 700 lb/in spring rate is recommended for vehicles carrying added front-end weight such as aftermarket bumpers or winches.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

2.5-Inch Shock Body and Remote Reservoir

The larger 2.5-inch shock body provides increased piston area compared to stock components, producing stronger damping force across a wider range of terrain from highway on-ramps to rocky trails. The remote reservoir extends consistent damping performance during sustained off-road use by keeping operating temperatures lower, so the shock maintains its calibrated feel even after repeated hard compressions rather than fading mid-run.

CDC Valve: External Compression Tuning

The included Compression Damping Control (CDC) Valve adds 10 externally adjustable compression settings, selectable with a turn of a knob without tools or disassembly. A driver heading into a technical trail section can firm up the front end in seconds, then dial back to a softer highway setting on the return, without removing a wheel or opening the shock body.

Extended Travel and Upgraded Coil Springs

The extended-travel design increases front wheel travel beyond stock, giving the suspension more room to articulate over uneven terrain. Upgraded ICON-engineered coil springs with a higher spring rate are included to handle the additional weight common to built FJ Cruisers, 4Runners, and GX platforms. Because the extended length exceeds the range of OEM upper control arms, aftermarket front upper control arms are required for installation and are not included in this kit.

Features

  • Lift height adjustability: 0–3.5 inches of front lift via threaded collar
  • 2.5-inch shock body: CAD-plated, corrosion-resistant body with 7/8-inch shaft and FK Rod End bearings
  • Remote reservoir: Maintains consistent damping and lower operating temperatures during extended off-road use
  • CDC Valve included: 10 levels of external compression adjustability
  • Upgraded coil springs: Higher spring rate to support added front-end weight
  • Fully serviceable: Designed for revalves, rebuilds, and long-term use; bolt-in to OEM shock location

Who This Is For and Isn't

This kit suits owners of 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruisers, 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runners, and 2003–2009 Lexus GX vehicles who want 0–3.5 inches of front lift with externally adjustable compression damping and extended wheel travel for mixed on- and off-road use. The 700 lb/in spring rate is specifically suited to vehicles with added front-end weight such as aftermarket bumpers or winches.

This kit does not fit any vehicle outside the stated 2007–2009 FJ Cruiser, 2003–2009 4Runner, and 2003–2009 Lexus GX model years. Aftermarket front upper control arms are required for installation and are not included. The 700 lb/in spring rate is not recommended for stock-weight front ends; ICON offers other spring rate options for unloaded applications.

Common Questions

Do I need any other parts to install this coilover kit?

Yes. The ICON Extended Travel coilover kit requires aftermarket front upper control arms for installation because the extended shock length exceeds the range of OEM upper control arms. Upper control arms are not included in this kit and must be sourced separately before installation can be completed.

Is the 700 lb/in spring rate right for my vehicle?

The 700 lb/in spring rate in this coilover kit is recommended for vehicles with additional weight added to the front end, such as aftermarket steel bumpers or winches. For stock-weight applications, ICON offers this kit in other spring rate configurations. Consult the ICON Help Center for guidance on selecting the correct spring rate for your build.

How many compression damping settings does the CDC Valve provide?

The CDC (Compression Damping Control) Valve included with this coilover kit provides 10 levels of compression adjustability. Settings are changed externally with a turn of a knob, requiring no tools and no disassembly of the shock, making it practical to adjust between on-road and off-road driving modes.

Will my factory wheels and tires still fit after installing this kit?

Yes, factory wheels and tires are compatible with this coilover kit. For aftermarket fitments, ICON recommends 17x8.5 wheels with 4.75-inch backspace and 0mm offset, or 18x9 wheels with 5-inch backspace and 0mm offset, paired with 33x11.50-inch tires. Larger tires may fit but could require fender trimming or other modifications.

Is this coilover kit serviceable after installation?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Series coilover kit is fully serviceable, meaning it can be revalved and rebuilt rather than replaced when worn. This design is intended to support long-term use and allows the shock to be reconfigured if driving conditions or vehicle weight changes over time.
