The ICON Vehicle Dynamics V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shock absorbers with CDXS piggyback reservoir are a vehicle-specific, nitrogen-charged monotube shock designed for 2019–2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks running 0–2 inches of rear lift. Sold as a pair, each shock is length- and damping-tuned specifically for this application and is 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable.

Independent Compression Adjustment for On- and Off-Road Tuning

ICON's Compression Damping Dual Speed (CDXS) valve system gives independent control over high-speed and low-speed compression damping in a single shock. Ten detented settings on each adjustment knob let a driver dial in handling response separately from overall suspension aggressiveness, tightening low-speed damping for highway stability without sacrificing the high-speed compliance needed when the terrain gets rough. That level of independent adjustability is what separates a purpose-built performance shock from a fixed-tune replacement unit.

Internal Bump Zone Prevents Harsh Bottom-Outs

A 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned a few inches below the top cap of each shock creates an internal Bump Zone. As the shock approaches full compression, this zone generates an additional 20% of damping force, enough to absorb the spike of a hard landing or a sharp trail obstacle without transferring it to the cab. The piggyback reservoir works alongside this system to dissipate heat during sustained off-road use, reducing shock fade on long runs where a standard shock would begin to lose consistency.

Aircraft-Grade Aluminum Construction Built to Last

The shock body is a one-piece, hard-anodized, impact-extruded 6061 aluminum cylinder, the same alloy used in CNC-machined aerospace components. Hard anodizing provides corrosion resistance and a consistent surface finish that holds up to trail debris, road salt, and weather. The 7/8-inch induction-hardened, chrome-plated shock shaft resists bending and surface wear, and PTFE-lined spherical bearings at the mounting points eliminate the bind that can occur with conventional rubber bushings under articulation. Because every V.S. 2.5 Series shock is fully rebuildable and revalveable, the shock can be serviced and retuned rather than replaced when it eventually needs attention.

Features

  • CDXS Compression Adjustment: 10 detented settings each for independent high-speed and low-speed compression damping control
  • Internal Bump Zone: 6061 billet aluminum manifold adds 20% damping force near full compression to prevent harsh bottom-outs
  • Piggyback Reservoir: nitrogen-charged monotube design with external reservoir for improved heat dissipation and reduced shock fade
  • Aircraft-Grade Aluminum Body: one-piece hard-anodized, impact-extruded 6061 aluminum cylinder with CNC-machined components
  • 7/8" Chrome-Plated Shaft: induction-hardened, chrome-plated shaft with PTFE-lined spherical bearings and application-specific mounting hardware
  • Fully Rebuildable and Revalveable: 100% serviceable; premium 5WT shock oil for consistent damping across a wide temperature range

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit 2019–2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 owners running 0–2 inches of rear lift who want independently adjustable compression damping for mixed on-road and off-road use. The CDXS system makes them a strong fit for drivers who want to tune their suspension for different conditions rather than accept a fixed factory or replacement tune.

These shocks do not fit the Silverado 1500 ZR2 or Sierra 1500 AT4X. On Trail Boss and Sierra AT4 submodels, compatibility is limited to 0 inches of rear lift, not the full 0–2 inch range. Trucks equipped with the factory Adaptive Ride Control (ARC) system require additional parts (ICON part numbers 71021 and 71022) and concurrent installation of aftermarket front coilovers; these shocks alone are not a complete solution for ARC-equipped trucks. California residents: this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth anomalies, or other reproductive harm (Proposition 65).

Common Questions

Which 2019–2026 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 submodels are compatible?

The ICON 77703XP rear shocks fit most 2019–2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 submodels with 0–2 inches of rear lift. Trail Boss and Sierra AT4 submodels are compatible only at 0 inches of rear lift. The Silverado 1500 ZR2 and Sierra 1500 AT4X are not compatible with this shock.

Do these shocks work with the factory Adaptive Ride Control system?

Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 trucks equipped with the factory Adaptive Ride Control (ARC) system require two additional ICON components (part numbers 71021 and 71022) alongside these shocks. ARC-equipped trucks also require concurrent installation of aftermarket front coilovers; installing only these rear shocks is not sufficient for an ARC-equipped truck.

What does the CDXS adjustment system control?

ICON's CDXS (Compression Damping Dual Speed) system provides independent adjustment of high-speed and low-speed compression damping on each shock. Each axis has 10 detented settings, allowing separate tuning of handling response and overall suspension aggressiveness without one adjustment affecting the other.

Can these shocks be rebuilt or revalved?

The ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shocks are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable. When the shocks eventually need service or a different damping tune, they can be rebuilt and revalved rather than replaced outright.

What is included in the purchase?

The ICON 77703XP listing includes a pair of two rear shock absorbers with piggyback reservoirs and CDXS adjustment valves, along with application-specific mounting hardware and PTFE-lined spherical bearings.
