The ICON Vehicle Specific (V.S.) 2.5 Aluminum Series front shocks are nitrogen-charged monotube remote-reservoir secondary shocks, sold as a pair, built for 2003–2024 Toyota 4Runner, 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma, and 2007–2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser long-travel suspension setups. Each shock is length- and damping-tuned to its specific application and includes ICON's CDC Valve for 10 levels of externally adjustable compression damping.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Bump Zone Technology Prevents Harsh Bottom-Outs

A 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned a few inches below the top cap creates an internal Bump Zone that adds 20% of damping force as the shock approaches full compression. For a truck or SUV running a long-travel kit at speed over rough terrain, that extra resistance at the end of the stroke is the difference between a controlled landing and a jarring bottom-out that stresses the chassis and fatigues the driver.

Ten Levels of Compression Adjustability

The CDC (Compression Damping Control) Valve is an externally adjustable knob that restricts oil flow into the remote reservoir, producing 10 distinct compression damping ranges without removing the shock or cracking a bleed screw. A buyer who runs the same truck on a weekend trail run and a highway commute can dial the shock to suit each use rather than accepting a single fixed tune.

Remote Reservoir and Rebuildable Construction

The remote reservoir separates the oil volume from the shock body, improving heat dissipation and reducing shock fade during sustained high-speed off-road use. One-piece impact-extruded aluminum cylinders resist corrosion and maintain a consistent finish over time. Every V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shock is 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable, so the hardware investment survives a revalve for a different spring rate or a full rebuild after hard use rather than requiring replacement.

Features

  • Internal Bump Zone: 6061 billet aluminum manifold adds 20% damping force near full compression to control high-velocity suspension travel
  • CDC Valve: externally adjustable knob delivers 10 levels of compression damping without tools or disassembly
  • Nitrogen-charged monotube with remote reservoir: improves heat dissipation and reduces fade during prolonged off-road use
  • 7/8" shock shaft: induction-hardened and chrome-plated for durability
  • One-piece impact-extruded aluminum cylinder: corrosion-resistant with consistent finish
  • 100% rebuildable and revalveable: PTFE-lined spherical bearings and application-specific mounting hardware included

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit 4Runner, Tacoma, and FJ Cruiser owners running a common aftermarket long-travel kit that includes secondary shock compatibility and a matching secondary shock hoop, and who want externally adjustable compression damping tuned to their specific application.

These shocks will not fit the ICON S2 Secondary Shock System or any stock-width control arm kit with secondary shock compatibility. They are not a primary (upper or lower) shock replacement and are not a universal fitment outside the three listed Toyota platforms and model-year ranges.

Common Questions

What long-travel kits are these shocks compatible with?

Per Application Note #255, these ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series secondary shocks fit common aftermarket long-travel kits that include secondary shock compatibility and a matching secondary shock hoop. Per Application Note #256, they will not fit the ICON S2 Secondary Shock System or any stock-width control arm kit with secondary shock compatibility. Confirm your specific kit's secondary shock requirements before ordering.

How does the CDC Valve adjustment work?

The CDC (Compression Damping Control) Valve on these ICON shocks is an externally mounted knob that restricts oil flow into the remote reservoir. Turning it cycles through 10 levels of compression damping force without removing the shock from the vehicle or using specialized tools, allowing on-the-fly tuning between trail and street driving.

Can these shocks be rebuilt or revalved?

Yes. Every ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shock is 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable. The one-piece impact-extruded aluminum cylinder, PTFE-lined spherical bearings, and application-specific mounting hardware are all serviceable, which means the shocks can be revalved for a different spring rate or fully rebuilt after extended hard use rather than replaced outright.

What does the Bump Zone do and when does it activate?

The Bump Zone is created by a 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned a few inches below the top cap of the shock. When the suspension compresses at high velocity and the shock approaches full travel, the Bump Zone generates an additional 20% of damping force. This extra resistance helps prevent harsh bottom-outs and keeps the suspension controlled during aggressive off-road driving.
