The ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series Piggyback Rear Shocks with CDEV are vehicle-specific rear shock absorbers engineered for 2014–2026 Ram 2500 trucks running ICON's 2" Lift Performance Rear Coil Springs (part number 214202). Sold as a pair, these shocks combine a 2.5" hard-anodized aluminum body, a piggyback reservoir, and ICON's Compression Damping Electronic Valve (CDEV) for electronically adjustable damping from inside the cab.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Bump Zone Technology Prevents Harsh Bottom-Outs

A 6061-billet aluminum manifold positioned just below the top cap creates an internal Bump Zone that adds 20% more damping force as the shock approaches full compression. On rough terrain or during high-velocity suspension events, that extra resistance keeps the suspension from bottoming harshly. The difference is meaningful when a loaded Ram 2500 hits a washboard or a sudden drop at speed.

Electronically Adjustable Damping via CDEV

The Compression Damping Electronic Valve reacts in under 40 milliseconds and adjusts oil flow infinitely across its range, so damping force changes with terrain rather than staying fixed at one compromise setting. The valve's hydraulic circuits are calibrated specifically for the Ram 2500 application to maximize resolution and dynamic range for this truck. The system is powered by the ICON Intelligent Control app and uses onboard G-force sensor and gyroscope data to predict terrain and adjust settings automatically, and the driver can also set preferences manually from inside the vehicle.

Built to Last and Be Serviced in the Field

The shock body is a one-piece, impact-extruded aluminum cylinder with a hard-anodized finish for corrosion resistance. The 7/8" shock shaft is induction-hardened and chrome-plated. PTFE-lined spherical bearings handle articulation at the mounting points. Premium 5WT shock oil maintains consistent damping across a wide temperature range. Every V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shock is fully rebuildable and re-tunable, so the investment extends well beyond a single service interval.

Features

  • CDEV electronic valve: infinitely variable compression damping, reacts in under 40ms, adjustable from inside the cab via ICON Intelligent Control app
  • Internal Bump Zone: 6061-billet aluminum manifold adds 20% damping force near full compression to resist harsh bottom-outs
  • Piggyback reservoir: improves heat dissipation to reduce shock fade during extended off-road use
  • Hard-anodized aluminum body: one-piece impact-extruded cylinder with corrosion-resistant finish
  • 7/8" chrome-plated shaft: induction-hardened for durability; PTFE-lined spherical bearings at mounting points
  • Fully rebuildable and re-tunable: length and damping tune optimized specifically for this Ram 2500 application

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit 2014–2026 Ram 2500 owners who are already running or planning to install ICON's 2" Lift Performance Rear Coil Springs (p/n 214202) and want electronically adjustable rear damping for mixed on-road and off-road driving. The CDEV system is a strong fit for drivers who want active terrain response without stopping to manually adjust.

These shocks do not fit Ram 2500 trucks equipped with factory rear air ride suspension. Full CDEV functionality requires a separately purchased ICON IIC kit and CDEV-equipped front shocks, neither of which is included. The ICON Intelligent Control app requires an iOS device; Android is not supported. These shocks are tuned and length-matched for ICON p/n 214202 rear coil springs and are not intended for use with other lift springs or at stock ride height.

Common Questions

What lift height do these shocks work with?

These V.S. 2.5 Aluminum rear shocks are length- and damping-tuned specifically for use with ICON's 2" Lift Performance Rear Coil Springs (part number 214202). They are not calibrated for stock ride height or other lift heights, and ICON's application notes specify that pairing.

Do these shocks work on a Ram 2500 with factory air ride?

No. These V.S. 2.5 Aluminum rear shocks are not compatible with Ram 2500 trucks equipped with factory rear air ride suspension. They are intended for trucks with a conventional coil-spring rear suspension setup.

What else is required to use the CDEV electronic damping feature?

Full CDEV operation on a Ram 2500 requires the applicable ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) install kit and CDEV-equipped front shocks, neither of which is included with this pair. An iOS device is also required to run the ICON Intelligent Control app; Android is not supported.

Are these shocks rebuildable?

Yes. All ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shocks are fully rebuildable and re-tunable, which means the damping can be adjusted and worn components replaced rather than replacing the entire shock assembly.

Does this listing include a California Proposition 65 warning?

Yes. These ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum rear shocks carry a California Proposition 65 warning: this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth anomalies, or other reproductive harm.
