The ICON Vehicle Specific (V.S.) 2.5 Aluminum Series front shock absorbers with remote reservoir and Compression Damping Electronic Valve (CDEV) are application-tuned for a 2.5-inch lift on 2018–2023 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2020–2023 Jeep Gladiator models equipped with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 gasoline engine. Sold as a pair, these shocks are configured in both length and damping tune specifically for this application.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Active Damping That Reads the Terrain

The CDEV is an electronically controlled valve that meters oil flow to regulate compression damping force. Reacting in under 40 milliseconds, it makes continuous, precise adjustments as terrain changes beneath the vehicle. The valve's hydraulic circuits are custom-tailored for this specific Wrangler JL and Gladiator application, giving the system the highest resolution and dynamic range the platform allows. Control runs through the ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) system and the proprietary ICON mobile app, which draws on an onboard G-force sensor and gyroscope to predict terrain and adjust shock settings automatically, with user-defined settings available when the driver prefers manual input. An iOS device is required to run the ICON Intelligent Control app.

Built-In Bump Zone for High-Speed Compression Control

A 6061 billet aluminum manifold positioned below the top cap of the shock body creates an internal Bump Zone. As the shock approaches full compression, this zone adds 20% of additional damping force, reducing harsh bottom-outs during high-velocity compression events. For drivers who push hard on rough terrain, that extra resistance at the end of the stroke means the suspension stays composed rather than slamming the bumpstops.

Long-Term Durability and Serviceability

The shock cylinder is one-piece, hard-anodized, and impact-extruded from aluminum, providing corrosion resistance and a consistent finish over years of use. The 7/8-inch shock shaft is induction-hardened and chrome-plated. PTFE-lined spherical bearings and application-specific mounting hardware are included. The remote reservoir improves heat dissipation during sustained off-road use, reducing shock fade on long runs. Premium 5WT shock oil maintains consistent damping across a wide temperature range. Both shocks are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable, so the investment can be serviced rather than replaced when wear eventually occurs.

Features

  • CDEV Active Valve: electronically controlled compression damping, reacts in under 40ms, infinitely variable
  • Internal Bump Zone: 6061 billet aluminum manifold adds 20% damping force near full compression
  • Hard-Anodized Aluminum Cylinder: one-piece, impact-extruded, corrosion-resistant construction
  • 7/8" Chrome-Plated Shaft: induction-hardened for durability; PTFE-lined spherical bearings included
  • Remote Reservoir: nitrogen-charged monotube design with remote reservoir for improved heat dissipation
  • Rebuildable and Revalveable: 100% serviceable; vehicle-specific valving with one-piece digressive piston

Who This Is For and Isn't

These shocks suit Wrangler JL and Gladiator owners running a 2.5-inch lift who want electronically adjustable compression damping for mixed on-road and off-road use. They are a strong fit for drivers who want active terrain response rather than a fixed damping tune, and who are prepared to also install the required ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) kit (part 23502) and compatible CDEV rear shocks (part 27726EP or 27727EP).

These shocks do not fit Wrangler JL or Gladiator models with any engine other than the 3.6L Pentastar V6 gasoline. Gladiator Mojave trim requires an additional 14mm misalignment spacer kit (part 611070), sold separately. The ICON Intelligent Control app requires an iOS device; Android is not supported. The IIC kit and rear CDEV shocks are not included and must be purchased separately for the system to function.

Common Questions

Do these shocks work without the ICON Intelligent Control kit?

No. The V.S. 2.5 Aluminum front shocks with CDEV require installation of the ICON Intelligent Control (IIC) kit, part number 23502, which is sold separately. The CDEV valve is electronically controlled through that system; the shocks cannot operate the active damping function without it.

Are matching rear shocks included?

No. This listing covers the front shock pair only. Compatible CDEV rear shocks for the Wrangler JL (part 27727EP) and Gladiator (part 27726EP) are sold separately and are required for the full system to function as designed.

Do these fit the Gladiator Mojave trim?

The V.S. 2.5 Aluminum front shocks with CDEV do fit the Gladiator Mojave trim, but that trim requires an additional 14mm misalignment spacer kit (part 611070), which is sold separately. Without that kit, the shocks will not install correctly on the Mojave.

What phone or device is needed to control the CDEV system?

The ICON Intelligent Control app, which manages CDEV settings and active terrain adjustment, runs on iOS only. An Apple iPhone or iPad is required. Android devices are not supported.

Can these shocks be rebuilt or revalved after extended use?

Yes. The ICON V.S. 2.5 Aluminum Series shocks are 100% rebuildable and 100% revalveable. When the shocks wear or when a different damping tune is desired, they can be serviced rather than replaced outright.
