The ICON Stage 8 Billet Suspension System is a complete front-and-rear performance suspension upgrade for 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner and 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser, delivering 0–3.5 inches of adjustable front lift and 2 inches of rear lift through a seven-component kit that pairs 2.5 Series Remote Reservoir CDCV front coilovers with 2.5 Aluminum Series Omega Bypass rear shocks, billet Delta Joint upper control arms, billet upper and lower trailing arm links, an adjustable rear track bar, and 2-inch rear coil springs.

Bypass Rear Shocks With End-User Tuning

The 2.5 Aluminum Series Omega Bypass rear shocks added in Stage 8 give the driver direct control over compression and rebound damping through easy-to-adjust bypass valves. That means a loaded overlanding rig and an unloaded daily driver can both be dialed to an appropriate ride quality without swapping hardware. The remote reservoir increases oil volume and dissipates heat during sustained off-road use, reducing the fade that occurs when a shock's oil overheats on long runs. ICON's Bump Zone technology raises damping force in the final 2 inches of compression travel, absorbing the energy of a hard hit before it transmits through the chassis.

Front Coilovers With 10-Position Compression Adjustment

The 2.5 Series Remote Reservoir front coilovers carry ICON's CDC Valve, which provides 10 distinct compression damping settings from soft to firm without removing the shock from the vehicle. The coilover design allows front lift height to be set anywhere in the 0–3.5-inch range by adjusting collar height, and the extended-travel configuration paired with the Delta Joint upper control arms increases front droop travel beyond the stock range. Coilover bodies are CAD-plated for corrosion resistance and use 7/8-inch shafts with FK Rod End bearings.

Billet Aluminum Links and Delta Joint Upper Control Arms

The billet 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum upper and lower trailing arm links replace the OE units with components that allow on-vehicle pinion angle adjustment through a greaseable dual-stage bushing. The geometry of these links is designed to maintain correct roll-steer behavior across the lift range. The Delta Joint upper control arms use ICON's patented high-angle ball joint, which combines the articulation range of a uniball with a sealed, greaseable, zinc-plated housing that resists corrosion and contamination. That sealed construction is a meaningful durability advantage over an exposed uniball in daily-driven or wet-climate use. The adjustable rear track bar restores proper rear axle centering under the vehicle after the lift is set.

Features

Who This Is For and Isn't

This system suits 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner and 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser owners who want a fully engineered front-and-rear suspension upgrade with user-adjustable damping at both ends, increased wheel travel, and a bolt-on installation that does not require cutting or welding. It is well matched to builds that see a mix of daily driving and off-road use, and to heavier-equipped vehicles that can benefit from the available 700 lb/in expedition front coil spring upgrade.

This system does not fit any Toyota 4Runner outside the 2003–2009 model years or any FJ Cruiser outside the 2007–2009 model years. Remote reservoir mounting brackets may interfere with certain aftermarket bumper mounts and windshield washer bottle locations, which should be verified before purchase. A bump stop spacer kit (part 51045) required to increase preload beyond the system's maximum is sold separately.

Common Questions

What vehicles does this suspension system fit?

The ICON Stage 8 Billet Suspension System fits 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner and 2007–2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser only. It does not apply to earlier or later 4Runner generations, and the FJ Cruiser fitment covers only the 2007–2009 model years.

How much lift does this system provide?

The Stage 8 system provides 0–3.5 inches of adjustable front lift set by adjusting the front coilover collar height, and 2 inches of rear lift from the included rear coil springs. Actual ride height depends on vehicle load and the collar setting chosen at installation.

What is the difference between Stage 7 and Stage 8?

The Stage 8 system includes all Stage 7 components (Delta Joint billet UCAs, 2.5 Series Remote Reservoir CDCV front coilovers, 2-inch rear coil springs, adjustable rear track bar, and billet upper and lower trailing arm links) and adds ICON's 2.5 Aluminum Series Omega Bypass rear shocks with user-adjustable compression and rebound bypass valves.

Can the damping be adjusted without removing the shocks?

Yes. The front coilovers include ICON's CDC Valve with 10 compression damping positions adjustable on the vehicle. The 2.5 Aluminum Series Omega Bypass rear shocks feature external bypass valves for end-user compression and rebound adjustment, also without removing the shocks from the vehicle.

Does installation require cutting or welding?

The Stage 8 system is designed as a bolt-on installation with no cutting or welding required. Note that the remote reservoir mounting brackets may interfere with certain aftermarket bumper mounts or windshield washer bottle locations, so those clearances should be confirmed before beginning the install.

What tire size is recommended with this system?

ICON recommends 33 x 11.50-inch tires with this Stage 8 system, and notes that trimming is required even for that size. Larger tires may fit but will require fender trimming and additional modifications. OEM wheel and tire sizes are also compatible with this system.
