The ICON Vehicle Dynamics Stage 2 Suspension System is a bolt-on, vehicle-specific upgrade for 2001–2010 GM 2500HD and 3500HD trucks running 0–2 inches of lift. The system pairs ICON V.S. 2.0 Aluminum Series IFP front and rear shocks with a Delta Joint tubular upper control arm kit, tuned specifically for the high spring rates of the GM HD factory torsion bar setup. OEM wheels and tires are confirmed to fit; the system is also compatible with select ICON Alloys aftermarket wheels.

Shipping: ICON parts ship direct from ICON Vehicle Dynamics, mostly by UPS Ground. Lead times vary by part and some items are built to order, so please allow extra time. We email tracking as soon as your order ships.

Tuned for the GM HD Torsion Bar System

The GM 2500HD and 3500HD factory torsion bar suspension runs a significantly stiffer spring rate than light-duty trucks, and a shock not calibrated for that rate will feel harsh on pavement and unpredictable on trail. ICON's vehicle-specific damping tune addresses this directly, delivering controlled, compliant ride quality whether the truck is loaded at a work site, towing a trailer, or running a dirt road to a trailhead. Towing capacity is not reduced by this system.

Delta Joint UCAs: Durability Without the Uniball Trade-Off

The included tubular upper control arms use ICON's patented Delta Joint, a high-angle ball joint designed to match the articulation range of a uniball while eliminating its main weakness in daily-driven use: exposure to the elements. A zinc-plated housing provides a first layer of corrosion resistance; a grease seal keeps contaminants away from the joint's internals; and a greaseable, metal-on-metal design extends service life while allowing noise-free operation. The result is a UCA that handles greater angularity than a conventional ball joint and greater durability than an open uniball.

Bolt-On Installation, Fully Serviceable Shocks

The Stage 2 system mounts entirely to existing factory locations. No drilling, cutting, or welding is required. The 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum CNC-machined shock bodies carry corrosion-resistant plating, and the shocks are fully serviceable after installation, so the system can be rebuilt rather than replaced when it eventually needs attention.

Features

  • Vehicle-specific shock tuning: front and rear damping calibrated for the GM HD factory torsion bar spring rate
  • Delta Joint UCAs: patented high-angle ball joint with zinc-plated housing, grease seal, and greaseable metal-on-metal construction
  • 100% bolt-on: no drilling, cutting, or welding required for installation
  • 6061 aluminum construction: CNC-machined components with corrosion-resistant plated shock bodies
  • Fully serviceable shocks: can be rebuilt in the field or shop after extended use
  • OEM wheel and tire fitment confirmed: stock wheels and tires clear the system without modification

Who This Is For and Isn't

This system suits 2001–2010 GM 2500HD and 3500HD owners who want improved on- and off-road ride quality at 0–2 inches of lift without giving up towing capacity or OEM wheel fitment. It is well matched to trucks used in mixed daily-driving and work or trail use.

This system does not fit GM 1500 trucks, any GM HD outside the 2001–2010 model years, or trucks requiring more than 2 inches of lift. Tires larger than 33×11.50" will require fender trimming and additional modifications beyond what this system provides.

Common Questions

Will this system work with my stock GM HD wheels and tires?

Yes. The ICON Stage 2 system for 2001–2010 GM 2500HD and 3500HD is confirmed compatible with OEM wheels and tires, so no immediate wheel or tire change is required after installation.

What is the maximum tire size this system supports without modification?

The ICON Stage 2 system supports tires up to 33×11.50" without modification. Larger tires may physically fit but will require fender trimming and additional modifications not included with this system.

Does installation require cutting, drilling, or welding?

No. The ICON Stage 2 system for 2001–2010 GM 2500HD and 3500HD is a 100% bolt-on system. All components mount to existing factory locations with no cutting, drilling, or welding required.

What components are included in the Stage 2 system?

The Stage 2 system includes two V.S. 2.0 Aluminum Series IFP front shocks, two V.S. 2.0 Aluminum Series IFP rear shocks, and one Delta Joint tubular upper control arm kit. All three components are vehicle-specific to the 2001–2010 GM 2500HD and 3500HD.

Are the shocks rebuildable after extended use?

Yes. The shocks included in this ICON Stage 2 system are fully serviceable, meaning they can be rebuilt rather than replaced when they eventually require maintenance.
