The ICON Stage 2 RXT CDXS Rear Suspension System is a complete rear suspension upgrade for 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD models, delivering a 20% increase in rear wheel travel over stock through a matched set of 2.5 Aluminum Series RXT shocks with CDXS compression adjustment, multi-rate RXT leaf springs, a hydraulic rear bump stop kit, and a Toyota rear U-bolt kit.

Tunable Compression Damping Front to Back

The CDXS valving on the RXT rear shocks gives independent control over high-speed and low-speed compression force. High-speed compression governs how the shock responds to sharp impacts (rocks, whoops, sudden drops), while low-speed compression shapes body motion through slower, sustained inputs like cornering and braking. Having both adjustments at the rear means the Tacoma's handling character can be dialed toward a compliant expedition ride or a more aggressive, controlled desert-running setup without swapping components.

More Travel, Less Bottom-Out

The 20% wheel travel increase comes from the complete system working together: the RXT shocks, the multi-rate leaf springs, and the hydraulic rear bump stop kit. The bump stops use position-sensitive technology that exponentially increases resistance as the suspension approaches full compression, reducing the sharp rear-end kick that stock rubber bump stops produce. The bump stops bolt directly into the OEM location. The 2.5" of hydraulic travel they add is part of the system's overall travel gain, and the advertised wheel travel figure requires all system components to be installed together.

Adjustable Spring Rate for Real-World Loads

The RXT multi-rate leaf spring pack includes an add-in leaf, giving three user-selectable spring rates. A lightly loaded daily-driven Tacoma and the same truck loaded for a week-long expedition have very different rear weight requirements; the add-in leaf lets the spring rate be matched to the actual configuration rather than compromising between the two. A military-wrap front eyelet increases durability at the highest-stress point of the leaf pack.

Features

  • CDXS Compression Adjustment: independent high-speed and low-speed compression damping control on the RXT rear shocks
  • 2.5 Aluminum Series Shock Bodies: one-piece impact-extruded aluminum with 7/8" shafts and 10" aluminum reservoirs for consistent damping as temperature rises
  • Multi-Rate RXT Leaf Springs: three user-adjustable spring rates via included add-in leaf; military-wrap front eyelet
  • Hydraulic Rear Bump Stop Kit: 2.5" travel, position-sensitive, direct bolt-in to OEM bump stop location; 1¼" CNC-machined nitro steel shaft; CAD-plated body
  • Fully Rebuildable and Revalveable Shocks: serviceable in the field or at a shop without replacing the entire unit
  • Complete Hardware Included: Toyota rear 8.0" U-bolt kit included in the system

Who This Is For and Isn't

This system suits 2005–2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD owners who want a meaningful rear suspension upgrade (more wheel travel, tunable compression damping, and a spring rate adjustable for varying loads) for overlanding, high-speed desert running, or demanding trail use. OEM wheels and tires fit; ICON Alloys 17×8.5" (4.75" backspace / 0mm offset), 18×9" (5.00" backspace / 0mm offset), and 20×9" (5.00" backspace / 0mm offset) are the recommended aftermarket wheel sizes. Tires up to 33×11.50" fit without modification; larger tires may require fender trimming.

This system will not fit 2WD Tacoma models with 5 wheel lug studs. It is a stand-alone rear kit and must not be combined with other aftermarket suspension kits. The 20% wheel travel increase is achieved only when all four included components are installed together; using components from a different suspension system will not produce the advertised travel figure and could cause unknown damage. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) require recalibration after installation. Common Questions

Does this kit include everything needed for the rear suspension upgrade, or are additional parts required?

The ICON Stage 2 RXT CDXS system includes the hydraulic rear bump stop kit, a pair of RXT 2.5 rear shocks with CDXS valving, two multi-rate RXT leaf spring packs with add-in leaves, and a Toyota rear 8.0" U-bolt kit. No additional suspension components are required, though ADAS recalibration is needed after installation and must be performed separately.

What rear lift height can be expected after installation?

Most 2005–2023 Tacoma submodels will see 1.875–2.625" of rear lift, depending on the rear spring configuration chosen and the weight carried. The 2017–2023 TRD Pro, which already runs a higher rear spring from the factory, will see 1.375–2.125" of lift over its stock ride height under the same conditions.

What does the CDXS adjustment actually control?

CDXS provides independent adjustment of high-speed and low-speed compression damping on the RXT rear shocks. High-speed compression affects response to sharp, sudden inputs like rocks and square-edged bumps; low-speed compression shapes body motion through gradual inputs like cornering and braking. Adjusting both independently lets the driver tune the rear end for expedition comfort or aggressive off-road performance without changing components.

Will this kit fit a 2WD Tacoma?

The ICON Stage 2 RXT CDXS system will not fit a 2WD Tacoma with 5 wheel lug studs. It is designed for 4WD Tacoma models from the 2005–2023 model years only.

Can this system be combined with other aftermarket suspension parts already on the truck?

This is a stand-alone kit and must not be used in conjunction with other aftermarket suspension kits. The 20% wheel travel increase is achieved only when all four included components are installed together; using components from a different suspension system will not produce the advertised travel figure and could cause unknown damage.
