The ICON Stage 7 suspension system for 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner and 2007–2009 FJ Cruiser delivers 0–3.5 inches of adjustable front lift and 2 inches of rear lift through a complete, bolt-on component set that includes CDCV-equipped 2.5 Series front coilovers and rear shocks, a billet aluminum Delta Joint upper control arm kit, billet aluminum rear upper and lower trailing arm links, a 2-inch rear coil spring kit, and an adjustable rear track bar.

Compression Damping You Can Tune Without Tools

The Stage 7 system adds ICON's Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV) to both the front coilovers and the rear shocks, which is the feature that separates it from the Stage 6 build. Turning the CDC Valve by hand lets you stiffen or soften compression damping on the spot, so the suspension can be dialed in for an empty highway run, a loaded overland trip, or technical off-road terrain without removing a wheel or reaching for a wrench. That adjustability means one system can serve the vehicle across genuinely different use cases rather than being a fixed compromise.

Remote Reservoir Rear Shocks Built to Resist Fade

The 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shocks use a remote reservoir to increase shock oil volume and improve heat dissipation, allowing the rear suspension to work at full capacity during extended off-road runs without the damping loss that occurs when shock oil overheats. ICON's Bump Zone technology increases damping resistance in the final 2 inches of compression travel, reducing harsh bottom-out on large hits and keeping the chassis composed over repeated impacts. The one-piece impact-extruded aluminum cylinders resist corrosion and maintain a consistent finish over time.

Billet Aluminum Links for Geometry and Longevity

The billet aluminum rear upper and lower trailing arm links are stronger than the OEM units and include greaseable dual-stage bushings for long service life. Both links are adjustable on the vehicle for pinion angle correction, and their geometry has been designed to maintain correct roll-steer behavior on and off-road. The Delta Joint upper control arm combines the high-angularity of a uniball with a sealed, greaseable, zinc-plated housing that resists corrosion and contamination. That sealed construction addresses the primary durability weakness of an open uniball in daily-driven or wet-condition use.

Features

  • CDCV Front and Rear: hand-adjustable compression damping on both the front coilovers and rear shocks without tools
  • Delta Joint UCAs: patented high-angle ball joint with zinc-plated, sealed, greaseable housing for corrosion resistance
  • Remote Reservoir Rear Shocks: increased oil volume and Bump Zone technology for fade resistance and bottom-out control
  • Adjustable Rear Track Bar: corrects rear axle placement under the vehicle after lift
  • Billet Aluminum Trailing Arms: on-vehicle pinion angle adjustment with correct roll-steer geometry
  • Bolt-On Installation: no cutting or welding required

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Stage 7 system suits 2003–2009 Toyota 4Runner and 2007–2009 FJ Cruiser owners who want a complete, bolt-on suspension upgrade with tool-free compression damping adjustment, extended-travel front coilovers, and corrected rear geometry for vehicles used across a mix of daily driving, loaded overlanding, and off-road terrain.

This system does not fit any 4Runner model year outside 2003–2009 or any FJ Cruiser outside 2007–2009. Remote reservoir mounting brackets may interfere with aftermarket bumper mounts and windshield washer bottles (Application Note #35). Coilover heights listed are for a stock-equipped vehicle; a 700 lb/in expedition coil is available separately for heavier-equipped builds (Application Note #47). Shocks are fully serviceable but are not a drop-in fit for vehicles already modified with incompatible aftermarket components. California residents: this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth anomalies, or other reproductive harm.

Common Questions

Does this system require cutting or welding during installation?

The ICON Stage 7 system for 2003–2009 4Runner and 2007–2009 FJ Cruiser is a bolt-on kit. No cutting or welding is required for installation, and an installation guide is included with the system.

How is compression damping adjusted, and do I need tools?

Both the front coilovers and rear shocks on the Stage 7 system include ICON's Compression Damping Control Valve (CDCV), which is adjusted by hand. No tools are needed to change the compression damping setting, making on-trail or trailhead adjustments practical.

Will OEM wheels and tires fit after installing this system?

OEM wheels and tires are confirmed compatible with the Stage 7 system on 2003–2009 4Runner and 2007–2009 FJ Cruiser. Aftermarket tires up to 33x11.50 inches are noted as fitting; larger tires may require fender trimming or other modifications.

Can the rear shocks handle extended off-road use without fading?

The 2.5 Aluminum Series rear shocks use a remote reservoir to increase oil volume and improve heat dissipation, reducing damping fade during sustained off-road use. Bump Zone technology adds extra damping resistance in the final 2 inches of compression travel to limit harsh bottom-out on large impacts.

What if my vehicle carries heavy gear or overland equipment?

The listed coilover heights for the Stage 7 system are calibrated for a stock-equipped vehicle. For heavier-equipped builds, a 700 lb/in expedition front coil spring is available separately (Application Note #47).
