Quantity

The BulletProof Hitches Light Duty Drop Tang is a solid-steel ball mount attachment that drops ball height up to an additional 5.5 inches, designed for towing situations where a trailer coupler sits abnormally low. It is compatible with BulletProof 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" threaded balls and is rated for up to 10,000 pounds of trailer weight and 1,000 pounds of tongue weight.

Extra Drop When Standard Mounts Fall Short

Some trailers (boat trailers, low-slung utility trailers, older equipment) have coupler heights that a standard ball mount cannot reach without putting the hitch ball at an angle that stresses the connection. The Drop Tang adds up to 5.5 inches of additional drop below the receiver bar, giving the ball a straight, level engagement with the coupler. That matters for both towing safety and trailer tire wear over a long haul.

Built to Handle the Load

The Drop Tang is constructed from solid steel with a 3/4" thick tab and a 1" hole sized for BulletProof's threaded ball lineup. The 10,000-pound trailer weight rating and 1,000-pound tongue weight rating place it in light-duty towing territory, suitable for the trailers most commonly paired with this type of drop attachment. The Signature Black Textured Powder Coat finish resists corrosion and road grime.

Ready to Pin and Go

The Drop Tang ships with two 5/8" corrosion-resistant pins and R-clips, so no additional hardware is needed to mount it in the receiver. BulletProof threaded balls in 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" sizes are compatible and sold separately. Select the ball diameter that matches your trailer coupler before ordering.

Who This Is For and Isn't

The Drop Tang suits towers who need more drop than a standard ball mount provides, particularly for boat trailers, low-profile utility trailers, or any trailer with a coupler height that sits well below the receiver. It works with any receiver that accepts BulletProof ball mount hardware and pairs with BulletProof threaded balls in the three most common coupler sizes.

Towing balls are not included and must be ordered separately. The Drop Tang is not rated for loads above 10,000 pounds trailer weight or 1,000 pounds tongue weight and is not intended for heavy-duty or gooseneck towing applications.

Common Questions

Does the Drop Tang come with a towing ball?

No. The BulletProof Light Duty Drop Tang does not include a towing ball. BulletProof threaded balls in 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" sizes are compatible and sold separately. Choose the ball diameter that matches your trailer's coupler before ordering.

What hardware is included in the box?

The Drop Tang ships with two 5/8" corrosion-resistant pins and R-clips. No additional mounting hardware is required to install the attachment in a compatible receiver.

What is the maximum weight this attachment is rated for?

The BulletProof Light Duty Drop Tang is rated for up to 10,000 pounds of trailer weight and up to 1,000 pounds of tongue weight. It is not rated for loads above these figures.
