The BulletProof Hitches 2" Aluminum Medium Duty Hitch is a 6061-T6 aluminum ball mount with a 4" drop or rise, a 2" shank, and a 14,000 lb gross trailer weight rating, built for tow vehicles with a receiver height of 18" to 19" (ground to the bottom of the receiver tube).

Aluminum Construction Without the Weight Penalty

The hitch body is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, the same alloy grade used in structural aerospace and automotive applications. That choice keeps the mount noticeably lighter than a comparable steel unit while holding the same 14,000 lb tow rating and 2,000 lb tongue weight capacity. The polished finish is bare aluminum, not a coating that can chip or peel. Bare aluminum does not rust, so the surface stays clean without the touch-up work a painted steel hitch eventually needs.

Seven Levels of Height Adjustment

The dual-ball head adjusts in 1" increments across seven positions, so the same hitch can be dialed in for a level tow whether the trailer coupler sits high or low relative to the receiver. A level connection reduces trailer sway and puts less cyclic stress on the coupler and hitch ball, a practical benefit on long hauls or uneven terrain. Two corrosion-resistant pins and R-clips are included to lock the ball head at the chosen height.

Dual-Ball Head Included

The hitch ships with a 2" and 2-5/16" dual ball already attached, covering the two most common coupler sizes without a separate purchase. The ball head is adjustable rather than fixed, so switching between trailer types does not require swapping the entire mount.

Who This Is For and Isn't

This hitch suits tow vehicles with a standard 2" receiver tube and a receiver height of 18" to 19" that need a 4" drop or rise to achieve a level connection, common on lifted trucks, full-size SUVs, and vans towing trailers, campers, or boats with couplers rated for up to 14,000 lb GTW.

This hitch does not fit 1-1/4" or 2-1/2" receiver tubes. It is not intended for vehicles whose receiver height falls outside the 18"–19" range, where a different drop or rise measurement would be needed for a level tow. California residents: this product carries a Proposition 65 warning for chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth anomalies, or other reproductive harm.

Common Questions

What receiver tube size does this hitch require?

The BulletProof 2" Aluminum Medium Duty Hitch is built for a standard 2" receiver tube. It will not fit a 1-1/4" or 2-1/2" receiver opening.

What vehicle receiver height does the 4" drop work with?

This hitch is designed for vehicles with a receiver height of 18" to 19", measured from the ground to the bottom of the receiver tube. Outside that range, a different drop or rise measurement would be needed to achieve a level tow connection.

Are the tow balls included, or do I need to buy them separately?

The hitch ships with a dual-ball head that includes both a 2" and a 2-5/16" ball, along with two corrosion-resistant pins and R-clips to secure it. No separate ball purchase is required for those two coupler sizes.

Can the ball height be adjusted after installation?

The dual-ball head on this hitch adjusts in 1" increments across seven positions, allowing the ball height to be set for a level connection with different trailers without removing the shank from the receiver.

Will the aluminum body corrode or need rust treatment?

The hitch body is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a polished finish. Aluminum does not rust, so no coating, paint touch-up, or rust treatment is required to maintain the surface over time.
