The kit consists of a shallow lid that doubles as a bowl and a deeper main compartment that functions as a pot, both aluminum, sized to nest together at 6 inches by 3.75 inches by 6 inches overall.

Two Pieces, One Compact System

The lid of this mess kit serves a second purpose as a bowl, with its own handle, so a single compact unit covers both cooking and eating without carrying separate gear. That dual function matters on a long patrol, a backcountry trip, or any situation where pack weight and volume are real constraints: fewer pieces to track, fewer pieces to lose.

Aluminum Construction Built for Field Use

Aluminum was the material of choice for military mess kits because it heats quickly, cleans easily, and holds up to rough handling without adding meaningful weight. These kits were made to be used hard, and the issued examples here have been. They arrive already proven rather than untested. Expect a functional piece of field equipment, not a display item.

What Issued Condition Means

Issued means this is genuine military surplus that was fielded and used during service. Each kit remains fully functional but may show minor wear, surface marks, dents, or stamps consistent with military use. No two will be identical. This is not a reproduction and not new old stock.
